"This hotel turned out to be quite deceiving. From the outside it looked grand when you walk up to it, but in reality it was tired with a 70s/80s building on the side which is where we stayed. Branded as a spa hotel, the spa side was tiny, old and very dated. The pool was very small, the jacuzzi wasnt working and empty. The sauna was tiny, with a door that was hanging off the hinges and had scraped the floor. In the changing room, very few of the lockers worked. The room we had was very small but clean. Unfortunately there was a wedding the night we stayed, so there were lot of people about. What I can say about this hotel, the staff were lovely. They were all very friendly and polite, considering how busy they were with the wedding that was going on. The food was also excellent. It was just a shame about the spa."

"This retro-styled hotel is tranquil and charming and staffed by a professionsl team. This place is a real break from the formulaic chsin hotels. The decor may make you feel as if you are in the game Cluedo! The breakfast is excellent value and the location on New Walk is so restful. Highly recommend! "

"The hotel was lovely but - regrettably - it was hosting a large wedding and reception on the first of our two nights' stay. They hadn't warned us, yet we were given a room adjacent to the thoroughfare from the reception venue. As a consequence, we had little sleep on our first night at all. The guests in the adjacent room had a spat at a little after midnight over who one of them had been dancing with (and how)! When that ended, we were woken again at about 1:45 am by a group arguing outside who had stopped en route to their rooms; I got up to chase them.off. we them struggled to sleep afterwards . I explained the situation to the manager and staff who offered a potential discount to be discussed when next we booked. We won't be rebooking."
