The best area to stay in Cotovia is generally around the town centre, particularly near the main thoroughfare, Avenida da Liberdade, for its convenience and access to amenities.

This area is the heart of Cotovia, offering a good selection of local shops, bakeries, and restaurants. It's a practical base for exploring, with easy access to public transport links that connect you to nearby beaches and natural parks. You'll find a mix of traditional Portuguese architecture and modern conveniences here.

Couples looking for a relaxing holiday will appreciate the central location, allowing them to stroll to local eateries in the evenings and easily access the stunning beaches of Sesimbra and Arrábida during the day. The convenience of having everything within reach means less time travelling and more time enjoying the area.

Families often find the area just off Avenida da Liberdade appealing. Many accommodations in this part of Cotovia offer more space, and the proximity to local parks and green spaces means children have places to play.

The best time to visit Cotovia is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the region.

Spring offers mild temperatures, blooming wildflowers, and fewer crowds, superb for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the Arrábida Natural Park without the peak summer heat. It's a great time for hiking, cycling, and discovering the local vineyards.

Early autumn provides similar agreeable weather conditions with the added benefit of warmer sea temperatures, which is excellent for beach days at nearby Praia da Figueirinha or Portinho da Arrábida. This period also coincides with the grape harvest, offering opportunities for wine-tasting experiences in the Setúbal region.

While July and August are also popular due to their hot, sunny weather, they are the busiest months, with more tourists and higher prices.
