"Check in was easy and location was good, thise are the only positives. The property is extremely dated and dirty. The furnishings in communal areas were torn, threadbare, stained, dirty and smelly. The carpets were dirty, covered in dog and human hair. There was mould above the shower and dirt and mould under the sink. The areas around the toilets were soiled with rusted old urine splashes. "The Lansdowne Hotel is very well managed with all the staff possessing an excellent professional attitude and are very friendly and courteous. Quality service is paramount for any business in the service sector and the management and staff have this in abundance, any prospective customer can be assured of a great stay at a hotel in the perfect location at the quieter end of Eastbourne. The restaurant has a great menu offer, nice bar and selection of beers and wines. The breakfast is excellent. Ollie was restaurant manager during our stay and he a super nice person, always willing to assist, as are all the waiters and waitresses, nothing is too much for them. You will be assured of a great stay in very good rooms. Lots of relaxing, comfortable seating space around the hotel is a nice plus, along with stories and pictures of its great family history."

"Had an amazing 3 nights at the George Hotel in Rye. The hotel environment made the stay so relaxing . The Grill Restaurant provided delicious dinner with attentive staff as was so with the breakfasts each morning. The reception staff were very helpful making sure that the two rooms booked were right for our family of four.. This was particularly important as my husband has mobility issues relating to Parkinson's. The room was great with step free access from the road. We would certainly use the George again."

"We had a very enjoyable stay here recently. The house and grounds were beautiful and the bedrooms were spacious and well-equipped. We had breakfast and a really helpful member of staff (Mollie?) reserved a lovely table for us in the conservatory for my mother-in-law's birthday. We unfortunately didn't have time to use the facilities on this trip, but the pool and spa area looked lovely and we hope to return."

"The stay was okay, although the property is a bit farther from the train station and the main tourist attractions than I expected. The room was generally clean. However, when I switched on the electric fan, a lot of dust blew out because it was very dusty. I had to take the fan downstairs to the reception and ask for it to be cleaned. Also, under the side table is dusty. Another concern was that there was no phone in the room, making it difficult to contact reception quickly, especially in case of an emergency. It would be much more convenient to have a faster way to reach the staff when assistance is needed."
