We were on floor 14 and had a "Deluxe Delight" room with a view towards the sea (it was only a little more than a standard "Superior Charm" room, but this is on the higher floors, therefore I believe quieter and looks fairly recently redecorated). It was reasonably roomy, had very nice decor and a fantastic view.
One thing that stood out for us was the room appeared to have some sort of humidification system as we had no trouble sleeping and, unlike normal air conditioning, we woke up refreshed, not dried out with sore throats. Brilliant. The only downside was any wet clothes would not tend to dry (they needed a bit of help from the hair dryer in the bathroom).
The staff was excellent. The included breakfast was first rate. My only "complaint" would be the staff in the breakfast buffet were a bit over-attentive, frequently offering us coffee, pastries and omelettes, even sometimes pulling out our chairs for us at every move. Again in the rooms the housekeeping came around frequently, to the extent we got in the habit of putting on the "Do Not Disturb" light whenever we were in the room.
Food for dinner was expensive (by our standards) in most restaurants, but cheaper and nicer in room service (again the over-servicing in the restaurants annoyed us a bit - I really don't need to have someone move a piece of chicken from my bowl to my plate for me every time - I want to be able to choose it myself).
The location of the hotel was good - in a very nice part of Mumbai.
This hotel is good enough but the location is very good. It is right on the water within a few minute walk of the Gateway to India. The staff was helpful. Be prepared to pay for Internet that expires after you log in one time so use it up at one time. Staff was very helpful, got me a driver for my 2 days in Mumbai.
If you are looking for a decent hotel in Colaba, look no further! Nice under utilized pool, close to market and other destinations, quiet, decent rooms. Priced right. Restaurant is good. I will definitely book again!
Very clean hotel, just around the corner from The Gateway to India & close to many restaurants, markets & bars. Also very close to museums & galleries. Excellent rooms, very spacious, very clean. Free internet, which is very reliable. Tea & coffee in the rooms, together with 2 litres of free bottled water each day.
The Gordon House Hotel is a chic hotel that's big on style. The hotel has 28 elegantlyfurnished boutique rooms on three …More
Didn't have room ready when we arrived even though it was later in the evening. Wanted to change our hotel instead of this one we booked to one further out. Finally got a room which was too small for 3 people. They wanted just to put a mattress on the floor instead of an extra bed but we refused.
Colaba, situated at the southernmost tip of Mumbai, is one of the most exciting places in the city. Colaba Causeway is a tourist hub which runs parallel to the Gateway of India, which has always been a hot vacation destination. When in Colaba, visit the Prince of Wales Museum and the Regal Cinema, one of the few old movie theatres in service in the city of Mumbai. There are numerous shops and sidewalk stalls that deal in costume jewellery, t-shirts, low-priced leather goods, semi-precious stones, authentic Indian ware, as well as Kashmiri carpets and shawls. It's best to visit several shops while exploring all of the opportunities for a good deal and negotiating on price. The causeway is also lined with food kiosks, restaurants, and cafes. Leopold's Cafe & Bar and Cafe Mondegar are some the most famous restaurants in this area.
