"The Black Swan in the centre if Helmsley is ideal for visiting the local area,comfortable clean and well appointed. Staff helpful and pleasant. The menus for dinner and breakfast were excellent, served fresh and hot. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely consider booking the hotel again in future."

"There is no Spa/lux feel to this hotel; as you walk in, the reception area is just in the way between the eating area and the bar. the staff are really lovely. The room smelled a bit of damp, the bathroom was so tiny you could barely turn round/get to the loo and it all needed a deep clean. Bed was comfy. There was no soundproofing I could hear the tv in the next room - it was like it was in my room. All old fashioned and not in a ‘faded glamour’ way. Needs a refurb. So disappointing for the wonderful cliff side location"

"Great hotel. Very modern and stylish, Check in/out was easy and swift, Room amazing and in excellent condition. Staff all very professional and helpful. Great plentiful breakfast with lots of variety. The large balcony in the breakfast /sofa seating area is beautiful with views and very comfy. For the price I paid, I was impressed and would happily stay again."

"The inn was okay and the staff were nice. Couldn’t sleep though which is the point of a hotel. Had a road facing room and could hear every single car as it sped by. Torture. The shower was also maybe the worst I’ve had in the last 5 years of constant travel. Felt like someone held a pinched hose over me and there was no water pressure at off peak shower times. "

"Quirky decor, comfortable room with great facilities. Breakfast was excellent, great choice, cooked to order and filled us up all day! Had sandwiches off lunch menu which were great value for money. Also ate in the restaurant at night, brilliant service and superb food. Hotel very convenient for walking to beach. Would highly recommend walking along the valley, lovely scenery. Just one small negative, our room overlooked hotel carpark and small narrow lane. The lane was used for deliveries and workmen so was a bit noisy after 7am each morning if windows were open. Only a small negative, overall we had a great stay."

"Great hotel, nice clean room, a bit on the small side but more than adequate for a 1 night stay. Breakfast was quite nice with a decent selection of food. Staff were pleasant although I did have to ask twice for a receipt for a coffee I bought from the bar. The server inadvertently put the receipt in the till and went on to serve someone else."
