Flights to Penarth
Thinking about taking a flight to Penarth? If so, there are two key airports to consider arriving at: Cardiff Airport and Bristol Airport. Cardiff Airport is approximately 10 miles away, while Bristol Airport is around 50 miles by road. Wherever your flight lands at, you can expect to be enjoying Penarth’s shopping, gardens, coastal walks and dining repertoire within two or three hours of stepping off the plane.
Both airports are well equipped to make your journey smooth and convenient, with everything from shops, cafes and bars to Wi-Fi, ATMs, postal facilities and executive lounges if you fancy ramping up the comfort.
For the ultimate freedom during your time in Penarth, you could arrange car hire through Expedia: collect your vehicle from either Cardiff or Bristol airport or another available location.
Convenient Airports for Penarth
A wide range of airlines fly in and out of Cardiff Airport, giving you a great choice of UK and mainland European departure airports, whether it’s on direct or indirect flights. You can fly to Cardiff from UK hubs such as Newcastle, Norwich, Jersey, Anglesey, Belfast and Edinburgh, as well as mainland European airports including Paris, Amsterdam, Munich and more.
If your flight sights are set on Bristol Airport, meanwhile, you’ll find they’re available from UK airports such as Newcastle, the Isle of Man, Aberdeen, Inverness and Edinburgh. Connecting and direct flights from mainland Europe extend the choice, with services from Frankfurt, Brussels and many other places across the continent.
Getting to Penarth After Your Flight
Cardiff Airport is a convenient 30 minutes or so by road from Penarth via the A4226, A4231 and the A4055, so getting a cab outside the airport terminal or arranging car rental through Expedia with a pick-up at the airport both make sense. Alternatively, you can use the indirect bus and rail links from the airport to get to Penarth.
If you’re arriving at Bristol Airport, meanwhile, you need to factor in a 75-minute or so road trip after your flight. The journey takes you along the B3128 and M5, before you follow the M4 across the Severn Bridge and into South Wales. Be aware that the Severn Bridge involves tolls for most vehicles.
You can arrange car hire via Expedia and then collect your rental car at Bristol Airport, or you can hit the taxi ranks outside the terminal buildings. Otherwise, you may want to consider catching one of the National Express coach services or other bus links to South Wales, or perhaps use the indirect rail services from the airport to South Wales via Bristol.
When to Book a Flight to the Penarth Area
Penarth has lots to offer year round, but comes into its own during summer, when its seaside location takes centre stage. If you’re thinking about visiting, you could time your flight to coincide with the Penarth Food Festival or its Summer Festival, both in July. Alternatively, you could book a flight in October to enjoy the annual Penarth Book Festival.
