Cheap flights to Ibiza

Book a cheap UK flight to Ibiza and you can enjoy the scene or take in the scenery.

As well as non-stop nightlife Ibiza also offers heart-stopping landscapes. Head away from the resorts and you’ll find sleepy villages rather than bleary-eyed clubbers and solitary sandy beaches sheltered by rocky coves. and rocky outcrops. Ibiza is where you can dance the night away or walk off by day into delightful, unspoilt countryside.

When to book cheap flights to Ibiza

The vast majority of tourists arriving in Ibiza do so between May and October, many of them drawn by the chance to catch some of the world’s best dance DJs who perform here all through the summer months.

As the glut of tourists wanes during the off-season, there may be cheaper flights on offer, but there are also fewer of them. You may need to stopover in Palma, Barcelona or Madrid during this time.

Airfares tend to soar during July and August, when school holiday opportunists join the ranks of the hard-core clubbers looking for their time in the sun. May and October see Ibiza still blessed with the weather but significantly less busy, and cheaper flights tend to be available.

Between November and April the weather may not always deliver, but it’s perfect if you want to experience the quieter side of Ibiza and tour its attractive old town or enjoy the sight as spring hits its countryside.

How to find the best flight deals to Ibiza

Despite the sheer volume of flights heading for Ibiza from a number of UK airports the demand for seats keeps the prices high during peak season.

But, if you know how to search with Expedia, you can still lower your airfare to the Balearics whenever you are flying.

One thing to try is to use our ‘Show flexible dates’ feature when you search for flights. This allows you to see at a glance what the cheapest days are to fly on – and just a day or two can drastically reduce the cost of your plane tickets.

You can also check if ‘Nearby airports’ offer more convenient flight times or a cheaper airfare. If you are flying from a London airport it’s always worth selecting ‘All London airports’, rather than just one, to see if carriers using an alternative London airport offer lower-priced fares.

Especially for flights in the off-season it’s worth considering a connecting rather than a direct flight to find a real bargain.

UK departures to Ibiza

Here are some sample flight times from UK airports to Ibiza:

Ibiza Airport

Ibiza Airport is the main gateway to two of the Balearic Islands - Ibiza and Formentera. Situated just four miles southwest of Ibiza Town the airport on this small island sees around five million passengers each year – the vast majority arriving in the space of just six months.

With just one terminal it’s an easy enough airport to navigate and getting into town is simple by bus or taxi. There are also car hire options at the airport if you are looking to explore the island during your stay.

The number 10 bus runs from the airport to Ibiza Town: do make sure you get off at the port, rather than the bus station, unless you want to lug your suitcases a long distance in the Spanish sun.

During peak season there are also buses that serve San Antonio, San José, Cala Nova, Es Caná and Santa Eulalia.

How to get around in Ibiza

Ibiza is just 28 miles long by 16 miles wide, so you can drive from one end to another in just an hour. This means if you hire a car you can really get to see all of the island with no taxing drives to endure.

The bus network extends across most of the major resorts – as a rule of thumb busy routes are served every 15 minutes and quieter ones will see a bus pull up once an hour.

The buses run from 7am until midnight, but there’s also the ‘Discobus Ibiza’ available in the wee small hours for bedraggled clubbers finally throwing the towel in.

Taxis are generally widely available but you may find there’s quite a wait for them during the peak months of July and August. To beat the queues – phone ahead to pre-book your taxi.

It would be crying shame not to take the ferry over to Formentera for a day trip. Things are much quieter here and the island is surrounded by silvery sand. The ferry leaves from Ibiza Town and takes just 30 minutes.

What are the must-sees in Ibiza?

If you’re looking for something more relaxing to do during the day than Ibiza’s nights allow then a visit to the Old Town is a must.

You can also head out to the famous Es Canar hippy market and there are plenty of beaches where you can find a little solitude.

For a taste of heaven make sure you sample the local pastry known as ‘ensamiada’.

Tips for travelling to Ibiza

UK passport holders do not need a visa to enter Ibiza. However, since 2016 all visitors to the Balearic Islands who are aged 14 and over are subject to a tourism tax of €2 a day for the first nine days of your stay and €1 a day thereafter.
