Site is in a brilliant location for cycling routes (cycled on the lancaster canel tow path and along an off traffic route all the way into morcombe). Friendly helpful staff ."

"Great place to stay for a few days rest and relaxation. The location is great for walks, dog walks, beach walks or just having a few days in a quiet location to chill. The hotel manager (Caroline) and staff are incredibly helpful and attentive. The bar and restaurant are constantly busy with locals and visitors that makes for a great friendly atmosphere. The food was exceptional. It is evident that it’s all home cooked and care and attention is given to taste and quality. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and just the right size for two of us and bags for a two day stay. Bathroom was very clean with an absolutely fantastic shower. Thoroughly recommend both the hotel and area for a peaceful few days away. "

"We stayed for one night, June 2025, I wish it had been longer! From start to finish, everything about our stay was lovely. Picturesque building in a beautiful setting. Plenty of room in the private car-park. The staff could not have been friendlier. We ate an evening meal in the pub and it was really lovely. Plenty of choice on the menu, reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Our room was spacious and looked as if it had been recently decorated. Comfortable bed, well-appointed bathroom, plenty of amenities. All you would expect from a really good hotel, let alone a country pub. Breakfast was lovely - well cooked, beautifully presented and ample quantities. I can't recommend The Wheatsheaf highly enough! Thank you!"

"Lovely coaching inn in beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Welcome very friendly as was service throughout stay. Room not huge but adequate and very comfortable bed with good supply of linen. Whole hotel was kept well heated. Beautifully cooked dinner and breakfast. Would definitely stay again though not sure if menu changed much."

"Lovely stay, the staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. Location is great right in town centre. Food was excellent. The room was very clean and a good size shower just a shame the water was a bit lukewarm but maybe as it was the furthest room. Would definitely recommend a stay. "

"Excellent base to explore the lakes and dales. We started in a 2 bedroom apartment with marina view and it had everything we needed, easy access, great facilities and an excellent pub/restaurant next door. "
