"Second time staying, excellent base for hiking the fells and mountains, especially with the spa for afterwards.
Staff are excellent and friendly, looking forward to our next stay."

Stayed for one night with my boyfriend, to get a break from it all and this was definitely the right place. Nothing was too much trouble, facilities great, bar food gorgeous, lovely atmosphere and tidy rooms. We actually had a bit of a hiccup from expedia as they sold a family room with 2 double beds that the hotel didnt have.
The receptionist Fluer (apologies if name spelt incorrect), was very helpful, polite and she made the stay that extra bit special for us and we recieved a...

Hotel was quiet. Staff were helpful and friendly,
Only gripe and I suspect this is what it limits it to 4* is a swimming pool and exercise facilities.
Breakfasts were excellent,
This was off season and hotel was quiet. Views from room of lake were spectacular.
Hotel was very dog friendly to the extent of providing dog bed and bowls.

Lovely hotel and a short walk to Grasmere village. We had an executive King room which was very nice. Good size and spotless. Nice bar with reasonable prices (same food menu and prices as the restaurant but less formal and no need to book). We dined in the restaurant in the evening (need to book table in advance) and the service and quality of the food was very good. Portions were quite small but we didn't leave hungry and we didn't bother with starters as we had earlier had a quite big lunch...
