Cons: It was very warm in the room, need AC
Around the corner from the train station, good location, lots of restaurants and shopping. The staff were great! Would recommend for a couple of night stay, price ok, clean room.

Rooms are very well decorated and stylish. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location. Discounted parking available close by to the hotel. Overall very good value for money and my new favourite place to stay when in Cardiff.

Had to change hotels

Posted 08-May-2016
I have a neurological disorder and primarily use a wheelchair when traveling. When my husband and I arrived there on our honeymoon this past week we discovered that the elevator was broken (the hotel begins on the 3rd floor of a building) and the room they'd assigned was an additional few floors above that. The staff was very apologetic, and when my husband explained the situation they offered us a partial refund and helped us to find another hotel nearby. They also bagged the fruit display and chocolates they'd set up in our room for our honeymoon. If the lift were fixed, I would book this hotel again. It was extremely well located and only a 1-3 minute walk from lots of good restaurants and a 3-5 minute walk to Cardiff Castle which was very fun to visit. I can't give this hotel a good rating on facilities because we weren't informed about the lift prior to arrival, but the staff was wonderful.

3rd time at this hotel can't fault it. We have stayed at many hotels in many places but whenever we go to Cardiff we always try and stay here.

Wrong bed, dirty sheets, nothing about is is Royal

Posted 22-Apr-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: For a started, a proper double bed in a double room, and clean sheets and cups!
Location: Central, but you pay for that in car parking £12 a night
I requested a double bed for my wife and me, and booked the night before an important interview. I arrived late, the room had twin beds next to each other rather than a proper double bed. At that time at night, I wasn't in the mood to ask for a different room. The beds were squeezed in a tight corner of the room, and you could only get onto the bed by climbing from the bottom, there was no space on the sides of the bed at all! It seems like a single room design I which they squeezed a second bed! In the morning, we noticed that the bottom end of the bed sheets had mould spots on it. The cups for coffee weren't clean, with dirty old coffee mark inside. The door for the toilet didn't open well, it will get stuck against the tiles half way through and you have to squeeze yourself in. We paid for breakfast, which should be served from 7am. At 07.30 we went down, were seated, but hot breakfast buffet was only open 15 minutes later! Not good for somebody who doesn't want to be late for the interview, and at £10 each, certainly not worth it. I paid £78 for the room and £20 for breakfast. I could have stayed at St David's for £96 but I wanted to be closer to the centre. BIG MISTAKE, NEVER AGAIN. I can't understand how this hotel is given 4 stars rating! More like low end 3 stars.

Need up-dating

Posted 19-Apr-2016
Pros: Located down town close to everything
Cons: The hotel need to be brought up to date I know it the oldest hotel in Cardiff but in a Capital city hotel you would think they would have the basics
Location: Downtown
No early check in had to wait 4hrs after traveling for almost 22hrs. Small Room, No fridge in room, No Ice, No place to sit in room no where to store cases. No Access to a computer to print our boarding passes ( they gave us directions to the library)

Room was really good and comfortable. Furniture was great. Location is amazing. All the facilities were great, however cleanliness could have improved.
