Next to train station, but very QUIET. Staff very helpful The smaller rooms have a very small bathroom and no door. The slightly larger rooms were perfect for a grandmother and 17 yr old grandson and the bathroom had a door!

Compared to 1.5 years ago, the hotel is not the same. Am staying there 2 nights and will be back for 2 nights but doubt if there will be a stay after that. In the past I truly enjoyed the service, cleanliness and atmosphere. Not so much anymore.

Nice place, but keep in mind that you can not watch Netflix in this hotel. They use a proxy server and thus Netflix won't allow you to access your account. A bit silly in a further fine hotel.

Great location, good room, but heavily understaffed. The same person was the front desk clerk, cook, server, bartender and housekeeper. Needless to say that one person could not give all these services

Very nice hotel in a quiet town, close to a small train station which can take you 30 +/- minutes to get to Amsterdam Central station or straight to Schipol Airport, 5 minute walking will take you to a local shop or 15 minutes to the main town centre with various different shops (including a bike shop, cafés shopping centre and a McDonald’s) and next to a park

Adequate for our needs.
Depends on what your looking for. We were visiting friends that lived close to this location. For us that worked since we were just spending our sleeping time at the hotel. The relative location to the train is fantastic. Especially since we needed only 40 mins to get to the airport. We did not have the breakfast or any food at the hotel.

OK, But Not as Great as Other Bastion Hotels
Pleasant stay at this hotel. Check in staff was not welcoming or very helpful, but checkout staff were fantastic. Overall hotel could use a bit of general cleanup, especially in the hallways. Room was of average size with semi-comfortable beds. Bathroom slightly below average in size but plenty of hot water in a walk-in shower. Towels clean but a little worn. Shampoo and soap provided. Hotel is directly across from the train station so extremely convenient. Not as noisy as you might expect. WIFI is a bit hit and miss depending on location in room. Main disappointment was when we were advised the hotel had no ice. This came from the young lady working in the bar. Needless to say we didn't bother with a drink there. When we returned to the hotel several hours later she was extremely pleased to advise us she had made 3 ice cubes while we were out. She didn't offer them to us, just let us know she had made them. When we requested a glass of hot water to make some tea. she provided us with a hot glass, but without water. We made the request again, and another member of the staff explained to her (in Dutch) we wanted a glass of hot water to make tea, not a hot glass. She told him she was unable to do that, and I don't know why since her explanation was in Dutch. Not much in the immediate area except a coffee place at the train platform (which was closed). The overall stay was adequate, but the experience could be greatly improved. Not sure if I'd stay here again or not.

A good stay. Room, bathroom, dining room, lobby practical, clean, comfortable, pleasant decor and furniture; hotel bordered by pretty shrubs and flowers, under beautiful mature trees. Quiet leafy but convenient location with ample parking opposite an electric railway station, next to a fantastic forest and heathland park with walking trails, and a large municipal indoor swimming pool. Major attraction nearby is Naarden's unique, gorgeous moated 16th century fortress and old town (40 mins walk or via next railway station to the north. This hotel is a good base also for Amsterdam and Utrecht as Dutch trains are rather fast, quiet, plentiful, comforatable, uncrowded, punctual and inexpensive. Friendly helpful knowledgable staff.

Good value for money.
Similar to other reviews staff were rude at check-in. I was told to go sit down and wait as the girl was busy on the computer. She seemed to have an unfriendly attitude. Apart from that the Hotel itself was very good. I have stayed here many times and the Bastion Hotel Group seem to have a continuous improvement program. In the room which I stayed in, the bathroom has been redesigned. It is more spacious, has a walk in shower and they have removed the annoying shelf above the wash basin. The décor in the room has been updated and has Air Conditioning for added comfort but could do with brighter lighting. The Hotel generally represents good value for money.

Room was clean and modern. As seems to be a trend with newer hotels the sink is very small and designer, which I found makes shaving difficult, especially with the shelf directly above. Breakfast was a little limited compared to other hotels I have stayed in at this price range, however the quality of the food was fine. Overall a fine hotel for the few nights of my trip.

The room didn't look anything like the room shown on the internet. I booked a deluxe room and when I got to the room it looked exactly like the comfort room. I asked why it didn't look like the deluxe room and was told the difference is not in the finishings but the size and I had the bigger room. There is therefore a very misleading difference in finishings in the photos between the room types. The heater in our room didn't work so the first night was freezing cold and after complaining 3 times we were moved to another room, after that this wasn't an issue anymore. I put my clothes on a shelf and upon taking it out again found a huge amount of dust on my clothes (photo attached). The only good thing about the hotel besides it's proximity to public transport was the staff who really did try and help.

Sleep constantly interrupted, the interconnecting doors in the corridors constantly banging up until 12 30am and starting again at 6am with guests coming and going, we were told worker's used this hotel and left for work between 6 and 7 am. No information how to use the phone, no dial tone. Cleaning none existent for 3 nights stay, en suite doors changed without prior notification to guests, personal items, ie clothes were subject to drilling etc, floor left with debrist from installing doors, floors in the bedroom not swept or cleaned, sink not cleaned. Bed made, but dust on lamp shade. Sink absolutely ridiculous, narrow sink with shelf above, impossible not to (a) bump your head, (b) get toothpaste on the floor, terrible design. Lighting in adequate. Extremely disappointing
