"We loved staying at the Sands hotel and wished we could have stayed longer! Facilities, location and food fantastic,
Thankyou for making our Orkney trip memorable - You even laid on lovely weather too !!"
"Great place for our short visit to the Orkneys! Very close to the ferry service, easy overnight parking, very close to most of the Neolithic sites we wanted to see, and great breakfast each morning. "
"We loved our stay. The home is conveniently located mear to the ferry. It is also not far to drive to a number of historical sites.
The home cooked breakfast was lovely, and the view from the dining room was beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful stay! "
"The Ferry Inn is a combination hotel/pub with breakfast included on our booking. We ate dinner both nights in the pub restaurant. The food was good & they had several choices for each course. The location was excellent for the Scrabaster/Stromness ferry & it was easy to navigate to Kirkwall & all the sights."
"We had a wonderful time at Burnside during our road trip through Scotland. Our suite was comfortable and provided all we needed. We loved walking around the tranquil setting and making friends with the local sheep. Our host was friendly, attentive, and the food wonderful. She lent us binoculars and guided us to the best places to see puffins. We’re happy we had the opportunity to stay there."
"This guesthouse has everything you need. It was immaculate, the breakfast was outstanding. The hosts were lovely and welcoming. Cannot recommend this place enough. Great location for exploring. "

10/10 Excellent
"The Manager makes you feel right at home , first name terms and genuinely interested in how you day has been . Service was excellent. The food was fresh, scallops were caught at 4 every day ."
"Pros: Friendly staff. Fantastic English breakfast. Great location, walking distance from the ferry terminal and all stores near the Stronmess waterfront. Even without an elevator, the parking location made it easy to access the room. Beds were clean and comfortable. Showers had nice high water pressure that gave a massage feeling.
Cons: The building is historic, so the floors had older carpet. Newer flooring, e.g. newer carpet or luxury vinyl plank could improve the stay experience.
Parking area had mosquitos after the rain.
Mosquito counter measures may have been helpful. E.g. Spaying, stratgeically placed zappers, torches, etc...
This was our first visit to the Orkney islands. We visited in August. Insect repellant is highly recommended when visiting certain areas on the island. The local people were all very friendly.
Overall, the Stromness hotel was a great experience. My family and friends all had a fun time. We would stay at this hotel again if we were to visit the Orkney Islands."
"We had the most incredible stay in this beautiful accommodation - everything had been thought of and it was so clean too. The views from the window over the cove were fabulous. We loved every minute. "
"I have toured around Scotland and this accommodation is by far the best I've stayed in. Very well appointed room , spotlessly clean and the host go way over and above .
I can't recommend this place highly enough."
"Lovely B&B. Friendly check-in. Clean, comfortable and spacious room with a lovely ensuite shower room.
Bed was very comfortable. Good location with car park at rear. Lovely breakfast with lots of choices. Would stay again."
"It was a pleasure to stay with Shona this week. Very friendly and prompt communication. Upon arrival was a friendly welcome and tour of the property which was modernly styled, very spacious, and immaculate. The large kitchen has no shortage of storage, fridge/freezer space, very large oven, hobs, pans, crockery, utensils etc. and spacious dining area for 8, couldn't ask for more!!! Add to that an ideal location which is right next to the ferry port (first house on the left when leaving the ferry terminal) and just opposite the post office/local store right at the heart of the village. There is also plenty of parking outside / nearby and is nice and easy to get to all of the mainland both by car and bus (stop is just outside). Would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks Shona."
