"We were unhappy with this place from the beginning. We did not have a vehicle & this hotel was an hour away from Stromness by bus, but all the other hotels closer were full. "I booked several months ago for a week, 29/8 to 6/9. The hotel has changed hands, and there are some shocking reviews. On arrival, there is an empty reception desk on the ground floor. "John o groats is a small area with most things closing around 6 pm. The hotel is very nice and the room and a full kitchen that means we didn’t have to rely on facilities being open. Beautiful room with great view of the North Sea."
