Novotel Bristol

Very comfortable welcoming hotel. Breakfast was very good and rooms were very comfortable. It was no more than a 15 minute stroll into town. The only slight down side was having to pay for the car park. Having paid £160 for just the room, extra for breakfast we felt charging for parking was a step too far.

Dreadful night's sleep, thoughless staff.

Stayed here in a family room: two adults, two children. We ordered some food on arrival which we ate in the room, before going to sleep. Some incompetent fool on reception decided 11.40pm was a good time to phone the room and ask us to pay for the food. IN A ROOM WHERE CHILDREN WERE SLEEPING! We politely informed them we would settle the bill in the morning. Clearly someone had messed up by not charging us at the time, and chose the most inappropriate way of trying to rectify their mistake. Then at 3am the fire alarm went off. Can't fault the hotel for this as it was due to a guest smoking in their room, however when the alarm stopped everyone was milling around in the hallway wondering whether to evacuate. No staff came to reassure us so we just went back to bed. This does not seem a very effective health and safety policy. £139 a night is an awful lot to pay for hardly sleeping all night, we will certainly not be returning to this hotel.

I will certainly discuss your concern with my management team who will revisit their procedures to prevent future occurrence in the future. I was also sorry to hear that you were concerned with the night procedures regarding the fire alarm. Please rest assured that the Health & Safety of both guest and colleague is of paramount concern to Novotel and although this alarm was caused due to some guests of the hotel flouting the law by smoking in their bedroom, the team did react swiftly in handling the situation and did check all bedroom floors and the external areas of the building to reassure those who had evacuated the hotel, I am sorry if they did not manage to see you during this procedure and I thank you for your full understanding during these isolated difficult situations the team may have to face. Nice hotel convenient for shopping and site seeing

Hotel good as a base. Was given a disabled room on check-in , our request to change was handled promptly by reception and we were given a better room on the same floor so easy to move. A fire alarm disturbed us at 3am on Sat night but was dealt with quickly so did not have to evacuate un like our last stay which was a full evacuation ! At least we know the hotel fire alarms work.

However I was happy to hear that you were pleased that the fire alarm works which unfortunately is the opposite feedback from many of our other guests who have complained resulting in a very low rating reflecting their visit. Please be assured that at Novotel, the health & safety of both guest and colleague is of paramount concern to us and although I can emphasize with the inconvenience that this may cause at the time, the system is designed for all of us and could save our lives which are obviously irreplaceable. I would also like to confirm that system did indeed detect an issue in the building, to which my team reacted swiftly, only to discover that this occurred due to some inconsiderate guests staying in the hotel who decided to flout the law by smoking in the hotel bedroom. As you are aware, the team handled this situation immediately so as not to cause too much of a disturbance to our guests and I thank you for your understanding regarding these difficult isolated incidents we have to face. Great hotel

Located by the main train station and thr Airport Flyer Bus line. 15 min walk to the city center and big shopping mall, art gallery. Several restaurants 1 block from hotel. Staff are simply wonderful, breakfast is great and tasteful. Special thanks to Linda for all the great advice

Child-friendly, well-placed

Stayed here for three nights when visiting friends. Very handy for the main railway station and the airport bus, if a little out of the city centre. Our fourth stay in a Novotel and we will no doubt stay with this chain again: a very child-friendly offering as well as all providing all the services parents could reasonably require.

Good hotel

Pros: Staff, parking and closeness to city centre. Also,overall a good hotel for a city break.
Cons: Probably larger towels in bathroom but it’s not really a big problem.
Location: Good for shopping and site seeing.
Been coming here for many years and the rooms are still good but the bathroom needed a bit of refurbishment. Also, think they must be trying to economise a bit on things like smaller towels. But overall, a good hotel so no real complaints.

Centrally located business hotel

Have stayed here before with work but this was a few years ago. This time I was on a leisure break and at a weekend so something to compare. My knowledge of the hotel plus it's location was part of my reason for choosing it. Price was less important but it was very competitive anyway. Also parking under the building was helpful. Staff were excellent and remembered me which is always a nice touch. It was unseasonably warm and my room air-conditioning didnt cope that well. That aside this is still a top hotel. I didn't want to be disturbed one morning and the staff left a bag of goods to refresh my room at my door. Another nice touch I thought. There are equally good if not better hotels in the area but this is up there and with on site parking and competitive pricing don't rule it out.

Great hotel close to train station

Very comfy stay. Staff extremely friendly and helpful kids were very entertained with the games consol and computers in the long area
