"The owners have done a great job renovating this hotel so that it offers modern levels of comfort and convenience while retaining the charm of the historic building. And don’t miss the four-course ‘surprise menu’ dinner, which was fabulous and very good value."

"While the room had a toilet, seems it was not ensuite. Had to walk down the corridor to access the toilet. Bed was uncomfortable and would have liked an electric kettle to make tea. Hotel however is a good location."

"Excellent séjour dans cette chambre d’hôtes. L’accueil a été très chaleureux et les propriétaires sont particulièrement attentionnés. La chambre était impeccable, confortable et parfaitement équipée pour passer un séjour agréable.
Le cadre est calme, reposant et très bien entretenu. J’ai également beaucoup apprécié la piscine, idéale pour se détendre après une journée de visite. Tout est pensé pour que les voyageurs se sentent bien et profitent pleinement de leur séjour.

"Beautiful house and property. The hosts were so kind and gracious and made a delicious breakfast each morning. We would love to return one day and spend more time at the property relaxing instead of exploring the surrounding area."

Fantastic little find, out in the middle of nowhere, high in the hills above the lake. The most spectacular views from the balcony where we just sat in the peace and quiet. Our host was fabulous, who couldnt do enough for us. Breakfast was local pastrys, the sugar bread was to die for. Beautifully restored, very authentic.

Beautiful south facing property, with distant views of the sea. Our hosts were very attentive. Particular mention for wonderful dinner in the garden one evening.

The best area to stay in Brianconnet is the Old Town, also known as the Cité Vauban, for its historic charm and convenient access to key attractions.
This UNESCO World Heritage site is encircled by impressive fortifications designed by Vauban, a military architect. The Old Town is largely pedestrianised, with narrow cobbled streets leading up to the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Nicolas. You'll find a good selection of independent shops, restaurants, and hotels located within these historic walls.
For couples seeking a romantic and historically rich experience, staying within the Cité Vauban is perfect. You're just steps away from the Ramparts, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and can enjoy leisurely strolls through centuries-old streets, discovering hidden courtyards and local artisan boutiques.
Families will also find the Old Town convenient, especially with older children who appreciate history.
When is the best time to go to Brianconnet?
The best time to go to Brianconnet is typically during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
Spring brings blooming wildflowers and comfortable temperatures, ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and enjoying outdoor activities like hiking or cycling. The days are long enough for excursions, and you'll find the local markets bustling with fresh produce. It's a lovely time for couples to enjoy scenic drives and vineyard visits without the peak summer rush.
Autumn offers similarly mild weather with the added beauty of changing leaf colours, especially in the nearby hills. The grape harvest season makes it a particularly interesting time for those interested in local wines, with many vineyards offering tours and tastings. This period is also well-suited for solo travellers looking for a tranquil escape, as the summer crowds have dispersed, and the region settles into a more relaxed pace.
While summer (July and August) is popular, it can be very hot and crowded, especially in tourist hotspots.
