"We absolutely love this hotel, its so family friendly and has everything you need for a great holiday. My kids loved the pool, the breakfast was amazing with a lot of variety. This is our second time visiting this hotel and we would go again. Great loacation with many great walk and sights nearby."

"Lovely location near Hexham with stately home vibes and comfortable bedrooms. The bar overlooks the golf course and has lots of nooks and crannies to settle in with a glass of whatever to people watch. The restaurant has a very good menu and the staff are attentive and make sure all is OK with your meal. Breakfast is self serve with full platters of tasty food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"Arrived late for a overnight stay after a holiday away was checked in quickly and efficiently by night porter id phoned ahead to tell them I’d be arriving after midnight room was fine bed really comfortable"

"What a find this place was. We needed somewhere to stay and shelter from Storm Dave rather than risk the campervan. We were lucky enough to find the family room at the String of Horses. Amazing food in the pub, amazing and super friendly staff, especially the lady who sorted out brownie pieces for my ten year old rather than the Sundae dessert version. The breakfast in the morning, ordered from a menu rather than buffet was delicious with great options. Added bonus was how close the pub was to all the Hadrians Wall forts and activities which we also stumbled across the next day on our way to Scotland. 5 stars, 10/10, if I could give more I would."

"Staff were overall unhappy looking, and certainly not welcoming. I'm also disappointed that there was no food offer available. The bar no longer serves food and the restaurant appeared closed. On the plus side, the wifi is fast and reliable. "
