Nestled on the beach, this Boscobel resort is within 6 mi (10 km) of James Bond Beach, Reggae Beach and Prospect Plantation. Mahogany Beach and White River Reggae ...
Ten miles east of Ocho Rios, on the north shore almost directly above Jamaica’s capital – Kingston – sits the small town of Boscobel. Home to a handful of luxury beach resorts and a few budget to mid-scale places to stay in town, Boscobel is surrounded by beaches and lush rainforest.
Boscobel is also home to the Ian Fleming International Airport, serving luxury private and charter jets from around the world.
Just a couple of minutes’ drive east of Boscobel, you’ll find yourself in Oracabessa, famous for being the home of James Bond author, Ian Fleming. Fleming lived near Boscobel for almost two decades and wrote many of the Bond novels from the home he built there – the Goldeneye Villa. Today, luxurious five-star resorts surround his villa, making it a wonderful luxurious place to stay while you’re in Jamaica.
Also in Oracabessa is James Bond Beach, where you can rent jet skis to go on a water safari, ride a glass-bottomed boat to explore the land beneath the ocean, enjoy the water sports centre or simply hire a mask and snorkel.
And after all the activity, you can use the dressing rooms on James Bond Beach to change for a meal in the bar and a restaurant.
Stingray City is also just offshore, giving you the chance to swim and interact with Jamaica’s wild stingray population.
About a 15-minute drive from your Boscobel hotel is Reggae Beach, home of the Bamboo Beach Club – a Jamaican beach and entertainment centre. As well as all the usual beach facilities, it offers cultural shows, live music, dining and shopping venues, as well as water sports.
It’s the ideal place to enjoy everything at once if you don’t want to have to travel too far. You can also arrange all kinds of local activities here as well as tours of the island to Dunn’s River Falls or aqua tubing on the White River.
