Very good location in central Berlin

Posted 21-Mar-2017
Pros: The staff at the hotel are all brilliant- they are helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and perfect for our needs. The breakfast was good.
Cons: It would have been good to have a kettle and tea and coffee in the room, otherwise nothing!
Location: Very central with lots of eating places nearby.
despite the cold, rainy weather we had a great time in Berlin. The Berliners speak very good English and are all so friendly! There is a lot to see and do and our 3 days were not long enough!

Cool hotel

Posted 28-Nov-2016
Nice hotel in a cool neighborhood. Spacious lobby, Beautifuly decorated. Many restaurants in the area. Wish only we could get a room with one big bed instead of two separate beds.

Not enough staff on reception.

Posted 04-Nov-2016
Location: Near train station and underground and Alexanderplatz.
This is a very busy hotel and felt at times that there were not enough staff on reception. The hotel is very nice and the room was excellent. We had an apartment which was spotless, came with fridge mini microwave and all facilities (except for cooker) to have food in the room. There is a supermarket across the road which is convenient. The hotel is near the train station and underground so you have easy access to all the local sights. Went to use the roof terrace but was closed, which was disappointing. I would recommend this hotel, we had a very pleasant stay.

Good rooms, depending on which wing

Posted 17-Oct-2016
Pros: The new wing. Very friendly staff.
Cons: The old wing. No breakfast (15 euro/pp) included in the room rate.
Location: One metro station from AlexanderPlatz. Close to the Hackisher Market and its S train.
The first room we got was very small, difficult to move in. However, when we asked for a larger one, even at a higher rate, we got a very large one with no increase in price. It turned out that this is the room equiped for invalid guests.

Modern hotel let down by poor design

Posted 10-Oct-2016 on Hotels
Nice rooms and fairly quiet, but insane design means the bathroom is in the middle of the room, so you have to get your kit off and shower in front of your roommate. If you're not intimate when you arrive, you soon will be. The rooms were supposed to have wifi but couldn't pick it up in the room. Breakfast seemed quite pricey at €15 but there are lots of cheaper options nearby.

Great location but unauthorized transaction

Posted 28-Sep-2016 on Hotels
I stayed in Hotel Amano Auguststraße 43, 10119 Berlin, Germany. I checked in August 27 (Saturday) and checked out September 3 (Saturday) I stayed for 8 nights. Hotel Amano has a great location. I would actually stay there again. The problems I enoucntered are the first room I was given did not have good or powerful air conditioning. I was given another room the following night. The second room had great air conditioning but the wifi was spotty. When I checked out, I saw that my bill included a tour worth 100 euros. I never asked for it and never took any tour since I was in Berlin for work and had my own itinerary. The person who attended to me admitted the mistake, then changed the billing and I signed the amount for eight nights. I just got my credit card bill and I found the transaction of 100 euros. Amano, please fix this inconvenience immediately. Other than that, the lobby is gorgeous, the roof top bar was a perfect place to unwind, the staff was great and I appreciate the little things like the vending machine, the updated magazines in the lobby, the fortune cookies, the big desk, the clean bathroom and the staff member who gave me a box of tissues when she noticed I was sick.

Berlin for work

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: lounges and the ambiance of the hotel
Cons: the attitude of the staff at the front desk
Location: perfect- close to underground, close to shopping, close to quaint eateries, close to ATM. I also felt safe the entire time
Location is spectacular. We checked out the rooftop and it would have been a really cool spot to go in the summertime too. Only complaint was about the hotel staff- they were less than helpful or cheerful when I conversed with them on numerous occasions. I get that people may have bad days, but it was not just one employee at the front desk but three that turned me off from the hotel- which is sad because its a really cool boutique like hotel. Also they had no shampoo, conditioner, lotion etc... in the hotel room which I may just be used to because I am american/canadian?!
