5 Star on the river

Posted 20-Mar-2017
Pros: 5 star, lovely suite, great view from 31st floor, nice staff
Cons: Stop ripping people off
Location: Wrong side of river
People will say if you can afford to stay at the Pen the don't complain about the prices! Exchange obviously not on our side but, £9 for a small bottle of beer round the pool £15 for a cocktail! lunch with wine again round the pool average food £100, Brunch on Sunday for two £200, it's a joke, we paid in advance for our five nights but decided to spend a night at the 5 Star Royal Wing Suites and Spa in Pattaya for a night, a regular for us, arranged a car early morning, checked into the wing had breakfast, lunch and dinner, checked out 4pm next day and spent about the same as beer, cocktails, brunch and lunch by the pool in the Pen! Prices at the Pen are a total rip off! Also total lack of pool beds, people waiting, PS £19 FOR BEER ROOM SERVICE!

Great hotel but getting old

Posted 17-Mar-2017
Pros: Location, pool, view
Cons: rooms
Location: Take the boat across to Oriental Bamboo Bar., walk in the old streets to see the very few old buildings left in Bangkok. Rest are become skyscrappers
I had been regularly staying in Peninsula Bangkok over 10 years. Needs a renovation. Rooms are deteriorating. Looking old and worn out.

The hotel staffs were friendly and helpful

Posted 04-Mar-2017
The first night when we get back to the room at 10pm we had no electricity in the room,so I requested a room change that was done very promptly and the staff were very helpful in arranging the change. The manager offered us complimentary breakfast for our trouble. The next morning we when and tried the breakfast out. There were plenty of choices to chose from. It must be my unlucky day i tried the rice noodle soup first. One spoon in my mouth I nearly vomited the rice noodle tasted like its crock coach infested. I went and got the supervisor and told her how can they give these noodles to people to eat. She just took it away.i was totally ignored no one asked me or approached to give me an explanation.

Excellent Hotel

Posted 01-Mar-2017
Pros: The rooms, the view, the reception
Cons: The restaurants, food and service
Location: It si situation on the residential side of the Bangkok river, but has a shuttle which takes you on the other side every few minutes.
We liked the location of this hotel, its elegance, the comfort of the rooms and its service. The view was extraordinary, the staff at the reception very helpful, we were upgraded for the second half of our stay. It is on the "wrong side of the river, but has a shuttle which leaves every 5 min to reach the downtown part. On the minus side, breakfast (which was good) requires lining-up at certain times and the service is not as good as you would expect. We have to rate this hotel as excellent because it is, but the food part is less attractive.

Amazing hotel

Posted 26-Feb-2017
We can't fault the peninsular. We had a wonderful stay; nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The bed was very comfortable; the bathroom was luxurious. The breakfast was second to none, more choice than we could ask for with very attentive staff who provided a polite and friendly service. The peninsula taxi boat provided an excellent service which helped us to access Bangkok more easily.

Deluxe riverside hotel

Posted 18-Feb-2017
Pros: Very comfortable, well run with lovely staff
Cons: The restaurant choice is a bit limiting, but then it is not a large hotel
Location: It's on the river
At the end of a trip to Bangkok, it was nice to slip into the Peninsula for a few days of relaxation, its riverside location the main attraction. The rooms are as you would expect, mine had a balcony, so it was nice to sit out and watch the sun go down over Bangkoj opposite (the Peninsula is on the Thonburi side). Getting about meant taking the hotels excellent boats either to Sathorrn Pier (for Skytrain), the Peninsula's own pier cheekily set next to the Shangri La or to the Oriental public pier for the river ferry services, so with these three links you have as good as access to the rest of Bangkok as you might wish.
