The hosts were friendly and gave great advice on where to go round Ashland and Bayfield. Our room was very clean and the common area had extra seating and a coffee and reading area. The house is located just a few miles out of town on a small farm set on many acres. A peaceful country setting with beautiful scenery and animals.

Really surprised with the accommodations! We were greeted with wonderful hospitality and the area was gorgeous. We are planning to return again.

Charming Retreat
For our recent stay at Second Wind, we were thoroughly impressed with the property and the attention to detail that Mark and Kelly brought forth both in its construction and as the current proprietors. The room was quite comfortable, though the bed was a bit firmer than we were used to. What surprised us most was how quiet the room was- this was greatly appreciated. They were gracious hosts and gave us some great tips on things to see and do in the area. We would certainly recommend a stay here, and have it on our short list for our next vacation to the area.

Thank you for your detailed review and kind words. We are so glad we made the list in coming back next time you are in the area. Perhaps you might want to pick a different room at Second Wind when you return, as the room you stayed in (The Bear Den) has the most firm mattress in the house as that was our recommendations for an ADA room.

What a unique and beautiful property. I stayed while visiting family and thoroughly enjoyed coming back every evening to this little oasis and quaint room!

The inn is amazing with gorgeous surroundings and very nice interior rooms. The Innkeepers were extremely nice and interacted with the guests daily and quickly responded to the needs of their guests. Our only disappointment was after reading reviews of great breakfasts at the inn we learned that was no longer included since Covid. There was a very nice gathering room with coffee, tea & hot chocolate and a toaster. Maybe some muffins, bread, bagels would be a nice addition. We will definitely return when visiting the area again

Thank you for your kind review. We are so glad you found us and of course are so pleased you enjoyed what we have dreamed and built here in our neck of the woods. Concerning your disappointment of us no longer serving breakfast, we understand. There are aspects of that that we also miss. Covid chaos made it impossible for us to carry on this service and grandkids made us starting up it up again unfeasible with time constraints, and difficulty in finding appropriate help. We have made every attempt to scrub off the internet anything that would hint at us being a bed and breakfast or offering the serving of food, but have found that to be unattainable due to past reviews and pictures. We have decided that simply letting our facility, location, and who we are be the welcoming factors of Second Wind. We thank you for your suggestions of breakfast offerings and have thought that through often, though have decided that our offering of our hired wrangler breakfast on Saturdays in Summer and Fall to be our way of keeping things doable for this Innkeeper Chic and her hubby.

Beautiful and peaceful; the best place our family (5) has ever stayed at. We were here four days/nights in the Lumberjack Suite. There was a full kitchen, had ample provisions and was impeccably decorated. There was an abundance of books and board games to occupy our time. There was no TV and the WiFi was adequate; this was a positive because it limited the temptation to focus on our electronics. Kelli was an amazing hostess; very kind, great communication and responsive to our needs. The field animals were great to watch and the kitties were so fun to play with! I could go on and on.....stay at Second Wind if you want a peaceful, nature-centered home away from home!

We loved our time at Second Wind. The wooded country setting was beautiful and quiet. Everything was provided in our room and in the Gathering Place. The animals were a real extra! We would recommend highly!

We enjoyed almost every part of our visit to Second Wind Inn; however, it didn't offer horeback riding, a continental breakfast or a full or half length mirror to use. Do to its remote nature these things should be reconsidered. It was EMACULATE however and picturesque. The owners were attentive and extremely accommodating. We celebrated an anniversay. I would go back.

Thank you for your kind review Kelly. I have been working on our Expedia presence since you made your reservation and told be it says we offer horseback riding. There are many untruths told in a paragraph that was not written by us...promising we offer horseback riding, adventure coordinating and are a wedding venue...three things we have never offered. I apologize for this misrepresentation and will be working with Expedia to correct this.

We loved this place! Spacious, sparkling clean and comfortable. Being out of the hustle and bustle in a quiet, country inn was extremely relaxing. And having no TV removed that low-key background noise so often a part of daily life. Great place to put your feet up and really relax.

We had a great time while we were at Second Wind from the time we arrived to the time we left. We stayed in the Lumberjack Loft. The owners/hosts were concerned with the satisfaction of and all in our group and responded to requests promptly. Great breakfast each morning and though we are generally not the "Bed and breakfast" type, we enjoyed the discussion with the other guests and owners. If you are looking for a hotel experience, I guess you can make it that way, but if you want something a little more comfortable, like home, then this just might be your place. One thing i should mention is there is good internet, but no television: we found it a nice break, but some may find this a little distressing. We loved it and will be back.

The entire stay was terrific. Kelly went out of her way to make us feel at home, and her breakfast cuisine was to die for. The inn is close to many scenic adventures along Lake Superior’s shores. Will stay here again, for sure.

Exceeded expectations. Homey, comfy, spacious. Amazing home-cooked breakfast. Lovely hosts. Minutes from Ashland town centre. 30 minutes to Bayfield for easy access to Apostle Island activities. Highly recommend the South Shore Brewery/Deep Water Grille in Ashland for drinks and dinner.

I took my wife to this bed and breakfast and after our time was done her i asked her if you would rate our time at Second Wind Country Inn on a scale of 1 to 10, she said and easy 15.. We had an awesome experiance and everything and person was top notch.. I would recommend this to anyone who would ask..

We had a wonderful stay!
This is a very nice bed and breakfast. The accommodations are comfortable and spotlessly clean. It is a quiet and peaceful location with a nice view. The breakfast was wonderful. We wondered about staying in Ashland rather than in Bayfield but we were both very happy that we decided on this location. It is not a far drive to Bayfield and it is so much more low key and relaxed. We will definitely return.

Deze B&B is meer dan fantastisch! Geweldige kamer, waanzinnig lekker ontbijt en zeer gastvrije ontvangst. Kelly, de eigenaresse, wist het ons volledig naar de zin te maken. Het is geen hotel, maar alsof je bij heel goede vrienden logeert. De huisdieren (hond, poezen en ezels) maken het nog leuker!
