"Just pulling out La Ferme des Mares, a charming establishment that provides everything except showers and an apology or discount for providing showers. Should you decide to visit, my advice is that you check the hot water before accepting the keys so that you don't have the unhappy experience of discovering an ice cold shower upon waking the next morning. And no one at the reception to assist you until 8:30 AM when you need to check out."

Top Angoville-sur-Ay Hotel Reviews

La Marine

10/10 Excellent

"Great position. Excellent staff. Food also and excellent but we would have preferred a simpler menu with some choices for non- shellfish diners"

Domaine Utah Beach

10/10 Excellent

"The room in the main house was very nice and well put together. The bed was very comfortable and had excellent bedding. The only drawback to the room is it being an old house you can hear anything and everything of the other travelers, but I always bring a noise maker to sleep better. The property was a beautiful piece of French history and a working organic farm!! We ate at the restaurant twice each for breakfast and dinner. The steak was sourced on the farm and nothing short of phenomenal. It was a beautiful restaurant with nice people and very cozy. I would definitely stay here again."

Hôtel Des Isles

10/10 Excellent

"This place was an amazing find. Lovely quiet location. Beachfront (very quiet single lane beachfront road to cross to the sandy beach). Stunning fresh food from a nearby organic farm. Very polite and helpful staff. Quiet area with not many other shops around. Beautiful sunsets and views towards Jersey and the small port of Carteret."

House for 10 people near the Utah Beach landing site, 15 minutes from the ocean,

10/10 Excellent

"The place was better than expected! Larger than we thought and more than what we needed. The rooms were all quite large with their own bathrooms and showers - everyone reported comfortable beds. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and cutlery. The residence is large enough to easily house a large family or multiple families. We played a couple games of pool and watched tv on the multiple tv sets. There is a small washing machine but no dryer but there are two drying racks. The location was great for our WW2 trip - right in the heart of things with not too much driving. We hit St Michel’s Abbey one day, Utah/Omaha the next and then Juno and the British beaches the last. There is a grocery store within a short drive as well as an excellent bakery. Only thing to maybe mention was the lack of some everyday supplies such as hand soap. What we didn’t have was easily picked up at the store the next day. If you are new to Europe possibly have her show you how to lock and unlock the front door! LolDelphine was a great host, and even helped us book a restaurant one night. The homemade plum jam was a nice surprise and was very good! Thanks for being a wonderful host!"

Gîte Andrée, 800 m from the beach in Pirou, garden, patio, Wi-Fi, wood-burning stove

10/10 Excellent

"Good communication from the host who was helpful throughout. The place was very clean and as described. A quiet location near to the beach. Perfect as a base to visit the area. Good parking at the property.Linen/towels/tea towels not provided."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Angoville-Sur-Ay?

The best time to visit Angoville-Sur-Ay is during the late spring to early autumn months, specifically from May to September.

This period offers the most pleasant weather for exploring the Normandy region. You'll find warmer temperatures, generally ranging from 15°C to 25°C, with longer daylight hours. This is ideal for outdoor activities, visiting historical sites, and enjoying the scenic countryside without the chill of winter or the heavier rainfall that can occur in other seasons.

For those interested in historical anniversaries and commemorative events, early June is a particularly poignant time to visit, as it coincides with the D-Day landings. Many ceremonies and exhibitions take place across the region, offering a deeper connection to the area's significant past. However, this period can also be busier, so booking accommodation and travel well in advance is advisable.

If you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds but still good weather, consider late May or September. The weather remains agreeable, and you'll often find more availability and potentially better value for your accommodation and travel arrangements.
