The residence is absolutely gorgeous in the middle of nowhere in Tuscany. The road is a bit bumpy to come but it’s worth it. The suites are very confortable and all the amenities are clean and very well decorated. We spent 4 days at the Castelli di Velona. Our room (a suite in the old part of the hotel) was perfect - a good size bedroom and sitting room and well equipped bathroom - all done in a traditional style in keeping with the castle. The pool area was also excellent. Our only suggestions for improvement would be to the gym (too small to really call a gym - only two pieces of equipment) and the lack of any tea / coffee facilities in the room. A stunning property. This was our favourite stay over a 4 week holiday and is a place to truly relax. We weren’t sure at time of booking if it was too far off the beaten track but booked it for the promise of a view, and it certainly did not disappoint. The view from the pool and breakfast area is truly spectacular, and whilst the location is away from the main tourist sites, it’s very peaceful and still well within reach of Siena, San Gimignano etc for a daytrip by car.
