"Terrific little Guest house, hosted by a very friendly inn keeper. Everything was spot on clean. Very good breakfast. I only had an overnight stay. Plan ahead for dinner options in Tain, they are limited."

"Have you ever visited your college bestie and stayed in their grungy dorm room? If not, now's your chance. Rooms are very small, outdated, and in poor condition. The bathroom was missing trim and tile. The carpet was falling apart and unclean. I spent £180... I wouldn't have spent £50. The pictures are extremely misleading online. I should have known when I checked in at the bar."

"Great location in the centre of town. Well placed for golfers and highland visits. It is a lovely old building which shows its age. In some respects. Staff were fantastic. Comfortable bar and nice restaurant . Food was very good and exceptional value. Breakfast was superb in terms of quality, quantity and service. Dinner menu is limited in choice but food is excellent."

"This is obviously a budget hotel now. The house itself was once a very grand house and it has a fascinating history for sure. The views are good and our room was basic and clean, as well as warm. The bed in our room (56) had not been put together properly though, so there was a metal ridge down the centre that was raised up too high and should have been placed lower. Our main issue though was that we heard loud voices at around 4am. Men were walking around the corridors of the hotel and talking loudly, They did not sound like residents. The hotel gives travellers a key to their bedroom door but it seems that the main entrance to the hotel is open 24/7. There is a person looking after the hotel but he does not sit at the reception. So it seemed to us that people were able to come into the hotel during the night via the main entrance and wander around. This was for us a pretty unpleasant experience and we did not feel safe. The hotel needs to ensure that the main entrance is lockable and that people feel safe. "

"Location was good. Check in process was easy. The beds were comfortable. I don’t prefer to degrade but I also want to be honest though. The room was falling apart. There is obvious water damage. Drywall was falling off walls and ceilings. Several old patches. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling. The bed and bathroom were mostly clean, but the carpet was full of hair and probably hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There were several spider webs on the walls and stains on part of the comforters. Overall the place has got potential, but needs more attention to detail and overall maintenance. So, I’d only recommend it, depending what you’re paying for it."
