"A good short stay (4 nights) in a beautiful area of England. Car parking generally available but not on busy occasions. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room spacious and comfortable. Description of accessibility could have been clearer as we were unaware that our room was up two flights of stairs."

"Room was fine. Clean and a good amount of space. The only downsides were the room was very hot even with the window open all night. Considering it’s April I presume the summer will be stifling. The shower also was poor, the pressure was low and operated from the bath taps meaning the temperature was extremely difficult to regulate. "

"All hotel features were very good. Nice, clean room, with comfy bed. Friendly, attentive staff. Good bar & library area which are dog friendly, tho bar snacks & prices a tad expensive. Very good breakfast choices. Location great for town, the Prospect & pubs along the Wye. Symonds Yat visit a must!"

"Our second stay at GMH, we stayed in the hideaway, which was very spacious and had a great bathroom. Breakfast is great and cooked to order. The only disappointment was that they couldn't accommodate us for an evening meal. Tables were laid out and reserved. But there were plenty of tables free, in the bar and the nook (think it's called that), which we thought could have been laid for us as we were guests. So we had to wander around to find somewhere to eat before our show. Never mind"

"The room was super clean, it appeared to have been recently decorated, the carpets appeared new, the ensuite seemed new, and all was nice. One thing I would say, as the room was facing the garden, there were a couple of spotlights on the front of the abbey/centre, and the window blind didn't fully cover the window, so the light came through that was the only negative thing i could think of"

"The Speech house was our first stop in the UK after arriving from the US. Having never traveled to the UK before everything was new and different! The staff were extremely kind, helpful, gracious, patient and accommodating. We relied on them for information of all kinds and would have struggle mightily if not for them! The food was very good--beautifully presented and delicious. We were graciously upgraded to a larger cottage room which was a tremendous benefit since we stayed for a week. (Thank you Chaz!) The property is beautiful, historic, and interesting. The trails that were accessible directly from the Speech House were a real treat and perfect for us since we did not have a car. Internet and cell service were mostly only available in the Lodge, so we needed to readjust our thinking and adapt our normal routines, which is a good thing. In our room some of usual creature comforts were a little lacking, but being in the forest in such an historic place with wonderful people more than made up for that! We can highly recommend the Speech House, especially to foreign travelers. "

"The parking was good. Plenty of room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was amazing, large, clean and beautifully decorated. A large newly done bathroom. The breakfast was really lovely and plenty of it."
