“A great hotel”
The hotel was in a perfect location for us - 5 minutes walk from union station. Tour buses leave from there aswell so it made getting around the city really easy. The hotel was spotlessly clean, staff were lovely and our room was superb. The Irish bar with live music was a great addition, the food and drink was excellent and good value for money.
“Excellent location!”
Great location, free internet (slow wireless but ethernet connection is fast enough), a decent diner/bar on the 1st floor. I would go back and definitely recommend to others. My room was on the top floor (9th) and though the room was quite small, it was clean, and overall, more than satisfactory :)
“Comfortable and Convenient”
This boutique hotel reminds me of a small european inn. Nothing about it is cookie-cutter or "hip." Everything about it is comfortable, warm, and convenient. A pleasing, elegant style. Somewhat worn, but clean and everything works. Location cannot be beat on capitol hill. As close as possible to union station. Near excellent restaurants (Bistro Bis); and good, "quick food" (Union Station). Also has its own unique restaurant (Dubliner; and a breakfast-only dining room). The authentic Irishness is fun - makes the hotel different and enjoyable.
“just okay”
Great location (you can walk to Union Station in 5 minutes), but overall just okay. Room (very small) was not ready when we arrived at 4 p.m. because someone else had left without paying and all their stuff was still in the room. They had cleaned the room, but didn't take out all the other person's stuff until we arrived, so we had to wait around for that. My husband had some irritating experiences in the restaurant. Front-desk people were nice, and room was comfortable enough, but it wasn't my favorite place in the world.
“not impressed at all”
This hotel for the price is not really worth the stay. Not so friendly staff except the door man.The rooms are put together well at all.I would def. rearranged the furniture.Repairs need to be done in some areas,as well as rooms dont smell clean.I would not tell anyone to stay at this hotel.
“United States”
Great location, clean room, surprisingly nice workout facility and a good Irish pub! Right on the metro and Amtrack - would definetly stay again.
“Great place to stay”
Hotel close to metro and very comfortable to stay at.
“If you're a hotel snob, staw away!”
I admit that I am a hotel snob. I look at EVERYTHING when I check into a room........from the cleanliness of the carpet to the condition of the walls and ceilings. In light of that, I was shocked to walk into my room to find stains on the carpet and a miniature bathroom that I had difficulty with fitting in ALONE! The room itself was also small. Expedia's rating of 4.5 is rediculous. This is a 2.5 star hotel at BEST. Again, if you're a hotel snob like myself who prefers to stay at 4.5 star and above hotels, stay away!!! Choose something else in the city like the Madison Hotel on M Street for the same price. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is within a 2 minute walk to Union Station.
“good”
comfort hotel
“Won't Stay Here Again”
I stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel because it was within walking distance of a meeting I was attending. I will not stay here again. The hotel was more run down than I had remembered, but three things in particular really aggravated me: - heavy construction going on next door A bulldozer woke me up at 5 a.m. I was not able to go back to sleep and lost the rest of my time that I had needed to rest that morning. - no water sold in any of the vending machines I was told by the front desk that they did not sell water and that I had to buy a bottle from the bar at the Dubliner restaurant, which is attached to the hotel. I was very annoyed by this inconvenience, as the restaurant was very raucus and I did not want to go in there. Instead, I had to pay $4 to use the bottle of "Voss" brand bottled water that was in my room. - the computers in the Business Center lacked functionality in accessing the Internet I needed to print out my boarding passes for my flight back home, and found out that the hotel's IT administrator had disabled ALL of the "add-ons" in the Internet Explorer browser, including the ability to load Java script pages and Adobe Flash pages. Considering that the vast majority of websites use Java and Flash to properly display their pages, including the ability to click on links, this is absolutely senseless! Since U.S. Airways uses Java to display boarding passes, I was not able to print them out and had to wait until I got to the airport. WAS NOT HAPPY.
