“Good location for sight seeing - not so good for restaurants”
We stayed here with our 3 young children. This is probably a better business hotel than it is for a family vacation. The location is great and the hotel is really pretty, but there are no restaurants nearby (other than a Potbelly's).
“Not a typical MO”
This is an ordinary hotel - like Marriott. For MO it needs to raise its bar at least 3 or 4 levels up. Rooms are comforatble but nothing extra ordinary. Except TV everything looks worn out - A/C, telephones and desks needs to be replaced. Front desk is rude but conceirge is good. Room service and housekeeping is prompt which you expect from MO. I will not return to this hotel and try something else. I strongly recommend this to you
“Peace and Tranquility”
There is nothing to improve on. This is the ultimate hotel at a reasonable rate for the luxury.
“Not quite so 5 Star”
There is no doubt the hotel is very luxurious. My room had a city view and I had no complaints until I cast my eyes lower- I was right next to a railroad. Some trains were quiet, some trains were a few miles long and had diesels, so there was a little noise. Other than that, the surrounds are great, so very close to metro and the Washington Monument etc. The lounge and restaurants were excellent, the pool was great and the spa had a long list of treatments that were very expensive- but this is the Mandarin. The hotel was top notch for decor, ambiance and comfort. I did have one little disaster though. My expensive camera- and it was my fault- I misplaced it. I must have left it in the lounge. I reported it as missing. The front desk person was not too compassionate and took my number to let me know if they found it. My big problem was that the lucky recipient of the camera- either staff member or guest is not quite the 5 Star person the hotel itself claims to be.
“Great hotel, Spa was pricey”
The hotel was great and the restaurants were amazing. I really enjoyed CityZen, my husband and I both ordered the 6 course tasting menu. Though the Spa may have been amazing, I didn't bother to go, because the pricing was so high. All of their services were literally double of anything that I have paid before and I don't consider myself cheap...
“It would be combinience for buisiness man.”
It was very sorry not to have any Asian restaurants in it. Everybody would imagine Oriental food to hear the name of this hotel.
“Mandarin DC”
Hotel was beautiful and service was great! Althought the neighborhood was beautiful, there really isn't much around the hotel - just a Starbucks, a CVS and a Potbelly Sandwich shop. To get something to eat, we had to walk at least a half mile. Hotel was close to the Metro, Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial. Although we loved the hotel itself, next time we will try and stay a bit more "downtown."
“Will stay there anytime I'm in D.C. and need to be by the mall”
I booked this for a quick overnight get away for my wife and I. Two blocks from the national mall it was a perfect location. Easy to get to when driving. Our in-room dining was an issue (didn't meet expectation for a five star hotel to be sure). But our over all experience was GREAT. We will bring our children next time. I can recommend this hotel to everyone!!
“Walking distance to many DC sites”
This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of all the war memorials, the Jefferson Mem'l, the Lincoln Mem'l, the Washington monument and the U.S. Holocaust Museum. There is a Starbuck's and a CVS right across the street. You can see the Capitol Bldg from the traffic circle at the hotel. Very comfortable hotel with lovely grounds. Bathroom was huge and immaculate. Fabulous hotel, although dining is expensive.
“Beautiful room!”
I have no complaints about this hotel. We were upgraded for free to a suite upon arrival. The suite was beautiful!!! Service was wonderful.
