Nice hotel with very good facilities. Showing its age in some areas - but more than made up for by friendly and efficient staff. Room was clean and well serviced. The restaurant staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Good central base for Newport/Cardiff and Brecon Beacons. Will definitely visit again. The hotel managed a very large wedding party during our stay without us feeling overwhelmed by it.

Nanteos has a 5* service with a personal touch. Set in stunning grounds, a fascinating mansion tastefully restored with great rooms, ambience and service. For a peaceful weekend with fine cuisine this is a good choice. Could do a little more to help guests with walks, runs and public transport access but they're working on that. Also, good value though wine list on the pricier side.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. You are treated very special. We only wish we had known there was a dress code to be able to use the very formal dining room, but the consierge made up a small table in the morning room with fine silver an crystal. Dinner was excellent and very romantic. It was a little pricey, but what can you expect when you stay at a hall that looks like Downtown Abbey. Expedia pictures and description do not do it justice.

What a warm welcome we received from staff at the hotel. By the end of the stay we were on first name terms. The level of customer service was really high and nothing appeared too much bother. The dog-friendliness of the hotel was amazing and the best by far that we have stayed in with dogs being allowed EVERYWHERE. The food was excellent - both dinner, snacks and breakfast - in fact the welsh rarebit is the best I have ever tasted. There was a good selection of wines available and some nice whiskeys for those who love it.
The rooms were a really good size and the beds were really comfortable. Although there was a boiler problem during our stay, this was sorted out quickly.
