Excellent Hotel

Posted 16-May-2015
Pros: Friendly professional staff throughout hotel, excellent cocktail bar, lovely Georgian Restaurant with great in-expensive food and varied menu.
Cons: Back ground music in the dining room.
Location: Hotel in town centre, bars and restaurants close by, River Tweed 2 minutes walk away, swimming pool and golf course close by.
1st class privately owned hotel in the centre of the Border Town of Peebles.

I booked the Tontine Hotel because it was recommended be friends. Had a great stay. Very homely with helpful staff. Centre of town so very close to shops, buses and pubs. Would definitely stay again.

ダウンタウンにある快適なホテル

Posted 19-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com

Fantastic Hotel

Posted 28-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
This is our third stay at the Tontine, as my husband fly fishes on the Tweed. It is a very classic and professionally run hotel, with very comfortable rooms. The atmosphere is friendly and the food is delicious...just what you need after a day on the river! The location is great, literally on the high street but you cannot hear traffic noise in the rooms, which is very welcome! Dogs are welcome too, which is what attracted me in the first place...unusual for such a well presented hotel, so cannot thank them enough!

Value for money

Posted 08-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Having completed my due diligence on reviews and review of costs for hotels in the area, the Tontine Hotel stood out. Room needed a little updating, windows opening wider as there is no air con, but for value for money was ideal.

Great Staff

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: The Staff , the room, and the food.
Cons: Bit of money spent on refreshing our bathroom, but it was a good size.
Location: Great position right in the middle of town, and near the river.
The room was a good size with a lovely view over the river/park. With a small amount spent on tarting up the bathroom, it would have got 5 stars from us. Decided to eat in the hotel. Great decision. Good food. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Also a good choice at breakfast. I guess the hotel is used for coach tours, but no bad thing, and gave it a better atmosphere.

A very welcoming and comfortable hostelry

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: Better access from the car park.
Location: Lovely little town in the middle of the Scottish borders. Loads of things to visit in the area as long as you have a car.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the ambience comfortable and welcoming. The public lounge was very relaxing with big comfy chairs and a good menu including cocktails. The dining room was based in what was probably originally the town assembly room (hotel was built in 1808). The food was extremely good and the staff professional and charming. Our room was in the original part of the hotel and was charming with a huge bed and a bay window. The shower was hot and powerful. Towels were good and the room was clean. Only problems were a lack of air conditioning ( probably not usually needed in the Scottish Borders) which meant we had to open the window with resulting traffic noise and the lack of a lift which meant carrying luggage up the stairs. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay there again. We really liked Peebles and found everyone there was friendly and happy to have a chat. The hotel was in the main street and handy for everything.
