Well located for budget hotel

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: Location and price.
Cons: Upgrading the windows would cut down on street noise.
Location: Great location. Breakfasts (or evening drinking) at Lefty O'Doules, 2 blocks to Union Square, 2 more to China Town, easy walk to Moscone Center
This is a budget hotel, make no mistakes, but it meets basic requirements. Very well located and decently priced. Small rooms are clean and well kept. Wife crawled all over worried about bed bugs, but everything was very clean. Small hard pillows, but fair beds, recently renovated bathroom. Sink and mirror in room, not in bathroom. Ancient tube TV. Very noisy outside at night, mostly because of a 4-5 member crew of dealers across the street laughing and talking loudly from late evening until about 5.30AM (on two consecutive weekdays). Lot of traffic noise and cheap single pane windows don't keep much of it out. I recommend getting a higher floor to get away from the noise as much as possible. We stayed with our two teenagers for a couple of days in March 2015. Would stay there again because of price and excellent location. Several parking garages very close. No breakfast at hotel, but many restaurants close. For my own money it was a good deal. If I was on a budget I could consider staying here on a business trip too. The room had a good desk and surprisingly good internet.

I could not even spend one night there.

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
Location: It's right downtown, one block from Union Square.
I didn't expect something like that: - the smell of kitchen from the restaurant next door right in the lobby was annoying, and on the upper floors was unbearable; - a turist in front of me walked towards the elevator and started screaming when she saw the cockroaches; - the room was old and run-down, not old and cozy, with big whitewash light; - the toilet seat right in front of the bed, crammed together with a really small and darkish shower in what looked like a small closet; - on the bed, the mattress and the covers were so bad and thin respectively that you could see the mattress' springs shape from above the cover. I used to travel sleeping in parks and train stations, but I thought that for $120/night, even in san francisco downtown, one could have expected a minimum of decency. I checked out without spending even one night there, and moved right to the hotel next door - a little more expensive but incredibly better - even at the price of losing the first night.

Posted 25-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: 安い!
Location:

close to union square

Posted 08-Dec-2014
Pros: location
Cons: new towels, land-line phone didn't work in my room.
Location: union square one block away
I was worried to stay here after reading all of the bad reviews, but I'm glad I kept my reservation. I'm a local bay area native, solo female traveler. I stayed here for a work holiday party downtown. The location is great! One block from Union Square. It's a small, old hotel, that reminds me of an older European hotel. My room was clean. I felt safe at this hotel. Yes, you get an actual key to your room, no biggie. Great water pressure. No toiletries except for hand soap, so bring your own shampoo/conditioner. Towels need replacing. I wouldn't bring kids here only because the windowsills are very low and the windows open all the way, just seems like an accident waiting to happen. The temperature of the room was fine. I think if it would have been a warm day, it would be uncomfortable (no air-conditioning). It's definitely a 2 star hotel, so if you want something "special", then don't stay here. Check in/out was a breeze with friendly front desk people. there is a Starbucks next door, a Walgreens close by and other restaurants.
