“Retro-styled chic”
This thoughtfully furnished hotel is well-positioned amongst a range of great cafes and restaurants. The nearby bus lines connect conveniently with the Martin St train line and pier 39 is a 30 min stroll through suburbia. The management greeted us very cordially and offered us a cordial late-afternoon apertif. (I appreciate such a generous touch.) The room that we occupied was a little cramped. The telephone line was very crackly but local calls were free and a number was provided with which we could receive calls in our room directly. (This was particularly useful as both mine, and my partner's phones had died in transit.) I am happy to recommend this hotel and enjoyed my stay there but it is a little pricey. For the price, a cooked breakfast, or a voucher for the same thing at a neighbouring restaurant, would earn the Hotel Boheme 5-out-of-5 but it was just a bit pricey otherwise. Still... it's a pretty good place to stay for a few days in the thick of the action in San Francisco.
“Location, Location, Location - plus great service”
We'll state it right up front - if you're looking for peace and quiet, you may wish to seek a hotel elsewhere. We loved this little hotel, however, simply because it's 1950s funky quaint, it's very clean, and has extremely hospitable and knowledgeable staff there to help on demand. The rooms are small, but that didn't bother us. It's noisy at night because it's located on a busy tourist oriented area in the heart of San Francisco's Italian community and within a few blocks of Fisherman's Wharf. There's restaurants and noise and people and hub-bub... which we loved ... but maybe you won't.
“I will always stay here!”
What a lovely boutique hotel! Perfect location, charming decor, and wonderful staff! I can't imagine staying anywhere else the next time I'm in San Francisco. Easy walk to China Town, Coit Tower, Lombard Street and Fisherman's Warf. Easy access to bus and street car. Felt like I was in Europe, woke to the smell of fresh bread from next door.
“Quaint hotel with a lot of character and charm”
We received excellent service, and really enjoyed the location in Little Italy. Parking was available within a couple blocks at a garage (paid $27 for the night). This hotel is for the traveler that wants to be in the heart of the daily and nightly activities (went to the coffee shoppes and Asian food markets during the day, restaurants at night). Really enjoyed the stay!
“Great hotel in tough part of town”
We had a great stay at La Boheme. Hotel is filled with character, with great photos from the Beat Era on the walls and incredibly friendly and helpful concierges in Stan and Charlie, who gave us great tips on places to see and eat at. Central if you're interested in seeing City LIghts bookstore, and some great coffee shops and down and dirty bars. Not the best to take young kids to, as also very close to many strip clubs.
“Such a perfect charming spot in North Beach/Little Italy - scenic and walkable”
Pros: Short walk from Coit tower Complementary sherry in the evening Charming style Helpful clerks Lively day and night scenes (I think this is a plus, see cons) Clean! Cons: No A/C If you're looking for a super quiet room this might not be fore you, you can hear the nightlife and street noises quite easily. A pair of noise cancelling headphones and some relaxing tunes will fix this. Slightly "old" smell but I think it's normal for such an old building (everything is clean)
“Awesome!”
Awesome place to stay! Just from walking into the doorway from the busy street and up the stairs we knew we would love everything about this place. Friendly and attentive staff. All the charm of the city is right here. Located in the middle of all that is happening in North Beach. We'll definitely be coming back soon.
“Good deal!”
The room was small, but very clean and cozy. The street noise was not as bad as some other reviewers mentioned it was. The staff were super nice. Overall, I would stay again.
“Cute, but technology challenged”
The hotel was very cute, convenient and reasonably priced. The staff was very informative and helpful by providing maps and guidance about where to go and not go. Free sherry in the evening was very charming. I only have a few complaints. There was no onsite parking. We had to park some 3 or so blocks away. There is no air conditioning. There were not enough electrical outlets. The hotel provided a fan since there was no air conditioning, but I had to unplug my bedside clock in order to plug in the fan. There was very poor wireless signal. All in all this hotel met our needs for the reasonable price.
“Nice place to saty in San Francisco”
Excelent location; good restaurants in the neighborhood and and a hotel that really takes you back to the spirit of San Fancisco
