Expensive, out dated

Posted 21-Jan-2015
Pros: Hotel staff were pleasant
Cons: Update the rooms... seriously.
Booked a single room on a last minute business trip to SF. Paid $629/night for a closet of a room with worn carpeting, outdated fixtures, and dirt/dust all

Location provides a good base for other activities

Posted 19-Jan-2015
Pros: Clean, quiet, comfortable, well-situated.
Cons: Each room should have a small microwave and fridge for restaurant leftovers and heating up hot drinks.
Location: Close to BART and cable car. Reasonable restaurants within walking distance. Recommend SF City Guides free walking tours.
I am not a fan of hotels and I don't like spending this much money but we were meeting friends there so we went along with it. It turned out to be very comfortable and convenient for seeing the city together.

Terrible experience.

Posted 16-Jan-2015
Pros: location
Cons: everything
We paid large $$$$$$ for 2 rooms for 2 nights and the rooms couldn't be more than 120 square feet. The rooms were old and terribly equipped. The dressing mirror was in the closet which you couldn't even open all the way because the bed side table was in the way. Upon arrival we were never asked if we needed any help with our bags or given any direction what so ever on any amenities in the hotel or in the area. the wait staff in the lobby bar looked more inconvenienced than should be when asked for a bar menu....perhaps it was because we were coming from out of country or the fact that they had the JP Morgan convention in the hotel, but this was an absolute rip off the the largest degree!! in fact I don't think i will stay in another Westin because of this experience.

Great hotel and a great location

Posted 10-Jan-2015
Pros: Location, comfort and quietness.
Cons: Free wifi in the rooms. A kettle to make a cup of tea properly. Biscuits to have with tea/coffee.
Location: Union Square, right in the middle of downtown, lots of shops and good transport links to everywhere else, most things within walking distance.
We stayed in the Westin St Francis for 6 nights over New Year in a deluxe Tower room and found the room to be large, very quiet and comfortable.

Pros: Location. Location. Location. The St. Francis is close to restaurants, stores, transportation - bus and cable cars.
Cons: Better lighting in front of the elevators so that you can easily see both the directions for use and the room card slot which is difficult to see.
Location: For shoppers, there are the big department stores - Union Square or Market St. Union Square was most interesting - skating, music etc.
Despite being busy during the holidays, everything went well. The Front of House staff were great and could not do enough to ensure all was in order. Without any request, they provided an upgraded room - one directly overlooking Geary St. rather than an inside room looking at nothing. Although there was some street noise, it was nothing of a problem. The housekeeping staff were prompt, efficient and did a first class job throughout my stay. The room was cleaned in a timely manner and was always left neat and tidy. Just great!!! The Oak Room is a great dining facility. The food was excellent. Christmas dinner was part buffet with orders for the entre. There was a good selection and the food was HOT - not restaurant cool.

Fantastic location in Union Square

Posted 05-Jan-2015
Pros: The location and the hotel room and view.
Cons: Better noise proofing. Can hear other guests shower and flush toilets.
Location: Union Square Park is across the street. Ice skating, shopping, Westfield Mall, cable car, huge Macy's, lots of restaurants.
Just spent two nights at the Westin St. Francis hotel. Loved the location right across the street from Union Square Park. Our Landmark room was not ready when we arrived early so we were upgraded to the tower rooms 27th floor. The view was amazing. The ride up in the glass elevator was really neat. The beds were very comfortable and the blankets super warm. We did hear quite a bit of noise the first night from other rooms, so it wasn't quite as quiet as I like. The second night was much quieter. Everyone that we encountered on the hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again as we loved the location. It's very convenient to ice skating and shopping. It's a nice safe area.

Lovely Hotel Ruined by Traffic Problems

Posted 04-Jan-2015
Pros: Lovely bed, great staff, great view from 14th floor Tower.
Cons: The parking garage.
Location: Union Square, everything is there.
Great hotel, however the nightmare of trying to get in and out of the parking garage would make me loathe to stay here again. Also the elevators malfunctioned for a couple of hours and had to walk down 14 flights of stairs so as to not miss a meeting, they are computerized and something went wrong with the computer settings. Such a shame as the hotel was lovely, but these 2 details ruined a nice experience for us.
