Nice downtown hotel

Posted 26-Aug-2014
Pros: The architecture and location.
Cons: Housekeeping was shabby as were curtains, carpets, and room furniture.
Location: Only hotel actually in union square, in the heart of main shopping and dining area.
Beautiful property, excellent location, nice large rooms, but not well maintained and in desperate need of refurbishment, service was very average.

Best hotel in S.F.

We had the best view of union square. The room was beautiful and very spacious. The bed was unreal and so were the pillows. The westin spares no expenses for comfort. Definitely coming back here.

Wonderful room Great location

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: All members of the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome and comfortable during our stay.
Cons: It is a little pricey to park your car in the garage, so I would recommend utilizing the plentiful sources of public transportation to get around.
Location: Within 2 blocks we could get on a cable car that took us down to the waterfront. At Union Square you can hop on a bus and get a tour of the city.
As a family of 4 with 2 grown children, we had plenty of room to spread out in a large room with a view of Union Square in heart of San Francisco. The staff recommended some excellent places to eat all within walking distance. We had a great low key meal at Jasper's Corner Tap as well as a great steak dinner at John's Grill.

Great!

We were supposed to go to Jikton for a function and was supposed to stay there. So glad we didn't! At Hikton I didn't like the atmosphere! Staying at St Francis was awesome! Nice rooms and great staff! Thank you!!!

Great hotel in union square

Posted 21-Aug-2014
Hotel staff was very helpful. They were able to check me in early after a very long day of travel. I shared the room with three other friends and we felt that we had more than enough room. Beds were very confortable and the bathroom was beautiful.

Classic hotel

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: Classic charm with tall ceilings, large hallways, chandeliers. Very nice room.
Cons: Check in timeliness.
Location: BART/MUNI nearby, cable cars across the street.
This is a classic hotel in a great location. The staff was very helpful. The front desk concierge helped my wife settle into the lobby while I returned our rental car. My only complaint was that at check in time of 3pm, our room was not ready. At 3:45pm, I was invited to check in. After receiving my room key I asked if it was in the tower building, per the reservation. It was not. While our room was very nice, it had absolutely no view, which I was looking for when I specifically reserved a tower room. The front desk clerk then offered to let me wait for a tower room, but suggested it would be a long wait. We were tired from traveling, so we accepted the interior room. It seems to me, when a hotel provides a check in time, they should have the staff to insure rooms are ready at that time. And if the type of room on the reservation is not available, they should let the customer know up front that they are not getting the preferred room and then offer some type of compensation.

Perfect location!

Posted 19-Aug-2014
This hotel is in the middle of everything! All the shopping you need is just outside the door. And union square is where you can find anything to do, from a double decker tour to the famous trolley ride. Everything else is just a short cab ride $7-$10 to just about anywhere! The hotel is historic and beautiful. My only issue was that they offered the 'green' experience. Which we thought was just not changing sheets. Well it turned out that if you choose the 'green' option, no one will touch your room. I would have liked the room to be cleaned, bed made and replacement of any towels as needed. We came back from our day out to an unkept room. Wasn't a fan of that! Oh well...I guess I know for next time.
