“Get what you pay for”

Location of the hotel is off the main road, but the subway is less than a 5 minute walk. This takes you straight into Manhatten. The rooms are basic, but comfortable and a good size.

“horrible first night at holiday inn express brooklyn”

holyday inn express brooklyn gave me a room # 114 that was water damaged. the first floor was stunk and big big 2 towel cart was in the hallway. when i enter my room that was humid and hot as like sauna. .moreover the room carpet was wet. I couldn't breathe easily. i complained the front desk. but the employee said they booked full so there was no more room.she said next day would possible to change a room. I tried to sleep but i couldn't sleep at all. I complained again 1am.finally i got a room on third floor that wasn't humid ,hot,stink. The aircondition work well. how the hotel gave the water damaged room to customer? I felt cheated.

“Well maintained with very accomodating, friendly, competent staff.”

My answers are based on how I rated the hotel with respect to other 3* hotels. I could not give a 5* rating to location because it is in the business section of Brooklyn, not some ritz big time luxery hotels area in more sophisticated cities. But I walked twenty minutes from the hotel to my point of destination and back at all times of day (as late as 11:30 p.m.) every day and never experienced any unease.

“Nice Brooklyn Hotel”

staff was great and very helpful and friendly. Hotel was clean. Rooms were a little small but adequate. Free breakfast in the morning was a plus. Free Wifi was great. Close to train station. Also close to some tasty restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

“Don't get a room on the basement floor”

Hotel staff very friendly. The shower in our room was clogged, so you had to stand in bathwater during your shower and the shower curtain was broken, so it didn't close off the shower well - cool air would come in. The hotel was clean and modern. Our room was near the housekeeping closets, so there was a lot of activity outside our door, but they weren't too loud. Would have preferred a room on a higher floor so we could look out the window.

“Staying in Brooklyn”

Staff were quite helpful, if not very prompt. The buffet breakfast was nice, but very crowded. Be aware that the parking lot is not very secure, and is used at your own risk (our car was side-swiped). We had requested a room away from elevators and ice machines... We wound up directly opposite the elevator. It was quiet, but not the guests waiting for it, which happened frequently because there was only one for the entire place. It's main plus is that it is near Park Slope.

“Great small hotel - clean and simple”

From check in to check out, everything was exactly as I would have expected. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the maid service excellent and even the "help yourself" breakfast was fresh and satisfying. The surrounding neighbourhood is a bit run down, but safe. Access to the subway was within 200 yards , so transport to and from Manhattan was easy. We had a great week there - lots to see and enjoy in Brooklyn too.

Area recommendations

Prospect Park and surrounding area has lots to offer. I recommend a visit to the Botanical Gardens. Lots of Restaurants and good bars to sample in the area between the Hotel and Grand Army Plaza, which is at the top of Union Street.
