“Perfect hotel if you don't mind a walk”

A little way out of the town centre however it has a wonderful spa with top floor pool with outstanding views of the town, sauna, steam room and gym. Breakfast was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all no complaints. Would recommend unless you want to be in the middle of town.

“Lovely hotel with nice rooms and great pool with a view”

We stayed for 2 nights at the Qubus Hotel in Krakow in August 2011. The hotel itself was lovely. We arrived early and they looked after our bags for us and check in was easy - the staff all speak very good English. The rooms were comfortable and the pool and hot tub on the 6th floor amazing! There was a great view and the facilities were really good. We had breakfast on one morning, and although it's a little pricey by Polish standards, it was really good, with a huge buffet selection. We didn't eat for the rest of the day, so it wasn't bad value in the end! We had one meal in the restaurant, and although the food was mainly excellent, the service was pretty poor - it took 2 1/4 hours to serve 2 courses and one of the waitresses was very rude to us (when we asked, after waiting for 20 minutes if she could get us some drinks she barked 'I'm not your waitress' and walked off). The other waitress was slightly better, but was a little rude also when we asked to pay the bill half with cash and put the rest on the credit card (which wasn't possible apparently - very inconvenient for us on our last night). Having said that, we would go back again without a doubt as the room and hotel itself was lovely. They have a free boat service, which was really nice and with a very friendly captain! I would certainly stay again, but would recommend one of the river boat restaurants instead of the hotel restaurant.

Area recommendations
All of it! The market Square was good for souvenir hunting and restaurants.
Dining
There are 3 boat/restaurants on the river near this hotel. The middle one of these (if they stay in the same place....) is one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been in! Great food, service and atmosphere.

“Great hotel”

We loved Krakow and loved the Qubus hotel. It is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of town along the river or through the jewish quarter and the complimentary boat into the town centre is great. The main market square is a great place to spend an evening with lots of restaurants. Hotel staff were very helpful and the breakfast was great. Sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the town as the sun went down was great. This hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Shindlers factory and the jewish area is just the other side of the river. Arriving in Krakow we intended to use public transport but there was a minibus on the left on the way to the station which would take you to any city centre hotesl for little more than the cost of the train. We also asked if they did trips to Auschwitz and they picked us up at 9am the following morning and we were with a great guide and only in a group of 10 unfortunately never did find out the name of the company!! We were travelling from Krakow to Prague by train. Krakow station is quite confusing and well worth a visit before to work everything out.We stayed in 5 cities and 5 hotels on our holiday and Krakow and the Qubus were the best.

“Just stunningly beautiful”

I have been to Krakow many times its a stunning city and Poland is just beautiful. Krakow square is relaxing and a lovely place to enjoy a beer or glass of wine or take a horse and cart ride. I took my girlfriend for the first time and she was blown away with the scenery at Zakopane and found Auschwitz, Birkenau Oskar Shindler's factory incredibly moving. Hotel Qubus is ideally located and the hotel was extremely comfortable. I cant wait to go back this winter and ski at Zakopane.

“Good business hotel”

It was nice to be able to swim and take a jacuzzi on the 7th floor with view of the river and city. The exercise facilities are great. Rooms are fine. The hotel is fairly near to the Schindler's list factory and has some nice walks near by. It is on the river and has a free ride on the river included. It is about a 10 minute tram ride from the old town. Breakfast was good. It is a large hotel and not charming, but fully staffed and accomodating.

“Great hotel value on river with free water taxi service!”

The Hotel Qubus is somewhat distant from major touriist attractions of Wawel Castle, Main square and restaurants. However, there is daily free boat service from hotel to dock at base of Castle and rest is within several blocks from there. Buffet breakfast-although very good-was pricey for the city. With the exception of these two items, we found the accommodations to be ideal and a superb value for the price booked on Expedia. Staff generally spoke quite good English and were very customer service oriented. Room was nicely appointed, immaculate, reasonably spacious and comfortably met our needs. We thought water taxi trip of approximately 15-20 minutes was actually an enjoyable bonus that we used several times during our stay in 80oF temperatures. Definitely correctly rated as 4-star accommodations.

Area recommendations
If you like river view, this hotel is place to be. If you don't wish to walk or want to be closer to major tourist attractions such as Main Market Square where an array of restaurants are located, be prepared to pay more for less. Then, you want something in the Market Square area.

“Awesome deal of a hotel in Krakow, Poland”

Qubus Hotel Krakow rocks! Excellent price per value ratio. Staff spoke good English Reservation had been in the system. Room was available immediately and was very clean and comfy. Internet connection worked. I wish all my hotel stays were like this I had a great time at Qubus Hotel and in the city despite the weather: thanks to the hotel's location and presence of bar/restaurant/events on premises. If anything else I wished for it would be: - I wish I found time to get to the nice swimming pool, and - I wish I hadn't had to skip their treat of a breakfast on my last day of stay there. On the darker side: minibar prices bite but (a) where do they not do so and (b) there are plenty of stores within a walking distance

Getting there
Taxi costs about 20zl from the city's central train station.
Nightlife
"Piano Rouge" Definitely.

“A great base in Krakow”

The hotel is just across the river from the old Jewish Quarter. It is on a main tram route to the old town, but is also within easy walking distance. The Qubus is a modern hotel, with a bright foyer, with bar and a restaurant. The reception staff are efficient, some more friendly than others and are ready to help with maps etc. The rooms are bright, clean and modern, with comfortable beds and well appointed bathroom. There was no discernable noise from other rooms or the corridor outside and we were able to have a really good sleep. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant and ranges from bacon and eggs to fruit, in fact everything you could want. Staff are friendly and the room is light and airy, a great way to start your day. There is a fitness suite, with a small swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna situated on floor 6, which has good views of the city. The hotel is about 200 metres away from the Kazimerz Galleria shopping mall, which has good stores and a food court. All in all, we were very satisfied with the Qubus and would definately stay again.

Area recommendations
The city is old, but in places a bit run down. We were only there for a weekend, but the Old Town is well worth a look. The Kazimerz district also has some great restaurants and bars. We went for the Christmas Market, but compared to Germany, particularly Berlin, found it a little disappointing.
Getting around
We used a transfer company called Transfers PL, which we pre- booked on recommendation before we left the UK. Unfortunately, our flight was diverted to Warsaw because of snow and we endured a 7.5 hour coach trip to Krakow, arriving about 2330 hrs. Obviously the transfer company had no idea of our arrival time and we were dropped off in a snowy main square in the old town. We hailed a local taxi, which took us about a mile to the hotel and charged us about £20 for the privilege. The next day, the transfer company picked us up from the hotel and took 6 of us to the Salt Mine tour (recommended) and the following day to Auschwitz (make the pilgrimage) They also picked us up the following morning for transfer to the airport. Excellent service and our driver Lukasz was really helpful and a great advert for the company.
Dining
There are many good value restaurants and bars in the city. We had a wonderful meal at the Pimiento Argentinian Grill in the Kazimerz district, which was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

“would definately go back to this hotel”

Very efficient friendly staff, no problems encountered at all. Breakfast choice was vast, the swimming pool although small had lovely views over the city, sauna and steam room were great. Location was quiet, main square was about 30 min walk, but taxi very reasonable if you don't fancy the walk. Schindlers factory is a short walk away and well worth visiting. Overall could not fault hotel and would recommend to anyone.

Area recommendations
The area Hotel Qubus was situated was quiet, you had to walk over the bridge across the river & then a short walk to get to Wawel Castle & Jewish quarter, the main square was over the river again & a good 30 min walk but easy to find and busy with Christmas markets, lots of friendly bars and restaurants.
What to pack
Warm clothes, weather at end of November very cold
Must see
Salt Mines, Jewish quarter, Wawel Castle, Schindlers factory, Auschwitz
