V.nice hotel near Duomo

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Family-owned and operated, the Benivieni is worth the few extra euros for comfort, location and quiet accomodations even though it's less than 200 feet from the Duomo piazza. The family gutted the interior of a 500+ year old building--the last tenant being a synagogue--and built a modern hotel. A/C, WiFi, very nice continental breakfast and accomiodating. We'd definitely stay here again.

Not a good way to end a three week trip

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: location
Cons: front desk, update rooms
Location: Location was great. We can walk to all the top sites
The man at the front desk was not welcoming when we checkd in. He walk us to our room but, did not help with our bags. My husband called him because he couldn't get the TV to work and the guy is telling him what to do over the phone and it still doesn't work. I called down and he finally came up to the room. The whole time he is there he is complaining about having to leave the front desk. It takes him about ten minutes to reset and fix the TV. He was rude the entire time. The next afternoon I asked him for restaurant recommendations, he says i will call the make a reservation for you. I asked for the name first so I could look it up online, he got so upset and said he needed to call and that he would't send me somewhere that wasn't good. I think that was a little weird. Out of our three week trip staying at 6 different hotels, all in the same price rage this was the one place i could not wait to check out of.

Perfect location

Posted 03-Oct-2014
Pros: location
Location: duomo, ufizzi, galleria of accademia florence, many delicious restaurants
My mom and I loved this hotel. The location is perfect - it's in one of the quiet side streets and just literally a few steps away from the duomo and the square. It's also very close to all the major attractions, museums and restaurants. The hostess is a very pleasant lady and helped us navigate the beautiful Florence. The breakfast was nice too. I'd definitely stay again and would recommend it to a friend.

Lovely family run hotel very close to the centre

Posted 10-Sep-2014
A lovely little family run hotel which is just situated behind the Duomo. Fantastic for being able to get around as you're so close to the centre with all the piazzas. The room was lovely and large, the beds really comfy, nice clean linen everyday and the bathroom was really clean and modern. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

Location, location, location

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Bed was uncomfortable. Also, given the heat during a Florence summer, a mini-bar fridge would be a great addition.
Location: Metres from the Duomo, and a short stroll to all the other sites. Loads of art, architecture, shopping a restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Fantastic location, right around the corner from the Duomo, and close to everything else. Room was bright and clean but the bed was two singles pushed together which created an uncomfortable dent in the centre. We also had issues with the plumbing - I know maintenance issues happen from time-to-time, but this did take the shine off the place for us. The staff were a little cool when we repeatedly mentioned aforesaid plumbing issues, which again slightly tarnished our view of the place. Overall all though we were happy with our choice, and in love with its great position in the city.

Nice hotel right in the heart of Florence

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, clean and well maintained. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed
Cons: Coffee at breakfast was not very nice but everything else was fine
Location: Cathedral is very impressive and close by, but the queues can be very long so worth getting there earlier in the morning.
Ideal location right in the heart of Florence and really convenient for all the sights. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is well maintained and in good condition. Enjoyed our stay here. Be aware that the hotel is in the restricted driving zone so you can drive in to drop your bags by making arrangements but will need your car to be parked during your stay.

Boutique hotel, close to Firenze's Cathedral

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Pros: Location, cost effective (except for parking), breakfast, staff attitude
Cons: Find a remote parking and come by taxi if you stay for more than 1 night
Location: Almost every Firenze attraction is in close proximity
Pros: Very nice hotel, right in the middle of Firenze's historical city center. Steps to most attractions in Firenze. Clean hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast, free WiFi, spacious rooms, Cons: Valet parking is 35 EUR/night AC cannot be turned off completely, and cold air is pouring on your head all night long.

Excellent value weekend break

Posted 29-Jul-2014
Pros: Excellent location, friendliness, locally run.
Cons: Larger shower cubicle, wider selection of international TV stations.
Location: Central location. Easy walking distance from train station (15mins) and the river. 1 street back from cathedral. Great wine bar next door.
We booked a last minute short break to Florence in July. Given what we had paid, we weren't expecting a great hotel. However, we were very pleasantly surprised with what we found upon arrival. This comfortable and friendly hotel is just a stone's throw away from the cathedral and is very well situated for the museums and other sites. The room had recently been redecorated and was clean and cool. The bed was comfortable. We had asked for a room at the back which other reviews had suggested were quieter. It was. If you're someone who likes large US-style hotel rooms, luxurious bathrooms and watching TV, this may not be the place for you. If, however, you prioritise convenience, location, affordability and friendly service, you can't go far wrong.
