Had a wonderful stay in the newly renovated ocean rooms. These are clearly a notch above the rest of the hotel, and worth the trouble, if you can afford it. Spa is a little disappointing, but the beach is great, especially off season. Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. It would be nice if the breakfast buffet was extended to weekdays, but off-season, one can understand why it wouldn't. All in all, would definitely return, although definitely off-season!
The owner Beth emailed me in the morning to make sure we had directions and we could get there OK. When we arrived we were enthusiastically greeted by Beth and Evie (Evey?), Beth's awesome Weimaraner. Since it was the evening, Beth immediately recommended some easy spots to get dinner. We decided upon the tavern/restaurant literally right next door to the B&B, and it was very nice. Waiting for us downstairs in the morning was a tremendous breakfast. Local organic fruit, great coffee and tea selection, and some of the best bacon I've ever had. Following breakfast we headed out to explore the island equipped with printout guides from Beth, as well as some specific recommendations for spots to check out. Before eventually heading out to dinner we made our way back to Seven on Shelter to relax, have some more tea and nap in the afternoon. Had the weather only been a little warmer we could have sat outside on some Adirondack chairs. It really wasn't much of a downer since the rooms are so comfortable. That evening for dinner we hit up Vine Street (awesome), then headed back to the next door tavern for a few adult beverages. The next morning Beth made sure there was another great breakfast going, as well as provide some much needed Advil to combat the previous night's festivities. We left with genuine well-wishes from Beth and an enthusiastic send off from Evie.
"On a Whim and a Prayer for The Labor Day Weekend"
Thursday Aug 28, 2014 East Hampton. We had visited friends and decided to extend our beach time. I looked for and found a few places ($3000.00). Anyway I also came across Kenny's Tipperary Inn, 1room available $270 fees so we booked it. Jamie the manager greeted us and even escorted me to our room #36. Everything looked fine. We were enjoying the area and the ocean so much that when we returned to the Inn late after dinner we decided to see if we could book another night (labor day weekend). Jamie was gone and there was only a little buzzer on the desk. we buzzed and waited a couple of minutes; in comes a gentleman who informs us there is one room available however because of the holiday weekend it's a "substantially higher rate ($425 fees per night)" and it must be booked for the entire 3 day weekend. We told him we were sorry but we couldn't afford that. We chatted a bit and came to find out he was the owner and we had a few things in common the chat got longer and next thing we knew he was giving us the one single night at a special rate but we would have to be moved to room #34 (no problem here) Thank you Mr Kenny. The location, the free beach passes, the service, the clean pool the friendliness and customer service gives this place the five stars. I can't lie there were a couple of issues with the rooms, a non working hair dryer and bathrooms could use a little TLC, but then again I've had those issues in top hotels that charge more. We'll be back.
On our handsome landscaped grounds Kennys Tipperary Inn offers a swimming pool private balconies barbeque and picnic area …More
