“Mike from Australia”

We stayed in the chicken run self catering cottage at Lower Thornton Farm. Everything about this accommodation was excellent and the hosts were very hospitable. The continental breakfast provided included free range eggs, a number of different cereals, orange and apple jugs, plenty of coffee, tea etc and toast and jams. There is a new toaster, microwave, oven and cooktop, everything required to successfully cook your food. All rooms are very spark us, the LCD TV was good, and the lounge furniture is good. The bed was very comfortable. It is necessary to take careful notice of the detailed instructions given to find the place as it is about 1.5 miles from the nearest very small village, Kenn. The final journey is up a long dirt track which is quite narrow but the journey is very worthwhile once you get there. My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending this place. The 4 B&B rooms will also be very good for those choosing to use this kind of accommodation.

“Spotless Accomodation”

We were looking for somewhere to stay for a couple of nights and the Chicken Barn popped up on Expedia so, having read the comments by other guests, we decided to give it a go. The directions were spot on and upon arrival we noticed how clean the property was. Internet access, digital tv channels, a washing machine, microwave and hair drier were all available although a 3 mobile signal wasn't but O2 had a good reception so this wasnt a problem. The breakfast was topped up each day and central heating warmed the place up just right, which was needed as the teperature dipped to 4 degrees both nights we were there. From the A380 it took 5 minutes to reach the property so it was a great location for exploring south Devon. I would have no hesitation in booking the property again or recommending it to others.

“Friendly little farmhouse B&B”

We only spent a night at Lower Thornton Farm, but it was very pleasant. It's a modern building, but fitted out in a traditional, comfortable style. We booked the small double bedroom (we were attending a wedding in the area, so wouldn't be spending much time in our room), which unfortunately was underneath the creaky floorboards of the kitchen, so it was a little noisy in the morning. However, it was quite comfortable, with a clean and well fitted out en suite bathroom. The service we received from the owners was excellent, very friendly and helpful. "Full English Breakfast" clearly means something smaller in Devon than in the North, but there was plenty of cereal, toast, etc, and everything was well equipped and very comfortable. There's a lovely dining room and guest sitting room with views over the hills. Adequate parking, although it could be a bit hairy in winter as there's a steep slope out of the parking area. It's a LONG way down a very narrow road though - not fun at night.
