"The hotel had a relaxed and cool environment during a major heat wave in Thailand. The staff where friendly and polite. We had a junior suite which was comfortable and cleaned regularly. A fridge/freezer and microwave were supplied along with complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks, replaced daily. The a/c was excellent. The bed was huge and exteremely comfortable. "The Shangri-La was an amazing stay. Upscale and classy, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it worked for us. From having an in-room check-in (no waiting in the lobby) to their on-site bar, confectionery store and multiple shopping options, this hotel is in a class of it's own. The only downside I can think of (and it's pretty minor) was that getting to central Bangkok will take you about 25-30mins by taxi. Not a major issue as you'll be able to see different areas that you may want to...

"There appears to be a strong smell coming from probably the drains. Some rooms smell more than others. The bed was very hard. Staff were excellent and nearly always friendly. Cleaning could have been done daily, as opposed to upon request. Upper level pool was awesome, but the sun chairs urgently need to be replaced. Oh and 10/10 breakfast curries."
