“Great location - Easy parking”
I wanted a room near to the Magnificent Mile but also with reasonable parking. The parking garage was directly across from the hotel and was kept safe and warm throughout our stay. It cost more than to park in a public lot but was much more convenient. The lamp between the double beds quit working but the attendant said she would request it be fixed immediately. The entry lounge was filled with tired shoppers sharing their moments and treasures together. Their smallish elevators were reminiscent of what I would expect in European hotels.
“We love the Raffaello; we've stayed twice and will definitely go back!”
Friendly staff, very clean room and bathrooms, and speedy and polite response to our needs. The location cannot be beat either!
“Expect...the unexpected”
Beware of the $30 early check-in fee: I arrived at the hotel at 10 AM and had to pay to get a room before 3 PM (and sign an agreement form!). The room was tiny and claustrophobic. There was a walk-in shower with no door (just a little glass separator) and unless you're under 5 feet tall, you'll end up having water on the floor, even outside the bathroom. The hairdryer was broken, asked for a replacement, but never got one. There are much nicer hotels for the same price in that area.
“Excellent price/value/accommodations”
I have stayed at Chicago hotels that were higher in price and inferior quality. The Raffaello is well-appointed, designed with a modern aesthetic.
“Property needs some attention but the location is great.”
We have stayed here before and liked it but this time our room was worn looking and a bit dirty. It looked like the carpet needed cleaning and the bathroom needed some upkeep like paint and grout. The glass door to the bathroom was dirty. Most disturbing, the water in the toilet was HOT because the wall behind was hot. We had to keep the room window open and keep the bathroom door shut to keep the room temprature comfortable in November. We reported it twice but it remained throughout our visit. Otherwise the place is convenient since the location is wonderful and the service and staff are great. I probably won't stay there again.
“True Boutique”
Everything was great, except that the room safe did not work. This was reported the first evening and after a five day stay, this was never resolved. The hotel manager never contacted us, which was surprising since this was discussed at least three different times with the front desk. The concierge was extremely helpful with directions and tickets. A true boutique hotel - if you require a full time restaurant & bar, this is not the place. However, bars and restaurants are within an easy distance.
“Been back several times”
Enjoyed staying at Raphaello, great neighborhood, good restaurants nearby, easy walk out to the lake, easy ride to downtown. Especially enjoyed room upgrade to suite!
“A bit pricey, but comfortable”
I stayed in this hotel from Sunday November 13 until Thursday November 17, 2011. The place is conveniently located. The room was nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. On the down side, the TV-Cable signal had the hiccups and the equipment on the fitness center was a bit run down. Apart from the room price, this hotel runs a charge of $200.00 to your credit card upon check-in to cover any Mini-Bar or other "incidental" expenses.
“Over-rated, over-priced”
Sadly disappointed in this hotel. We were first put in a room with barely enough space to walk around bed! Next room (despite initially being told there were no other rooms available) was larger but still lacking. Staff claimed they were oversold (nice!!). Tiny closet, no shelves in bath, electical outlet in bath loose, amenities humdrum, a $10 charge for wi-fi, room was uncomfortably warm, and the coolest setting on the thermostat has no effect (had to open windows for air, and a symphony of traffic noise). Conscierge not available Saturday morning. Ever been nickle and dimed? Calls itself a 4-star hotel, but Rafaello isn't even close.
“Nice Hotel a bit off the beaten path”
The hotel staff was very friendly - parking was very convenient and rooms were nice and clean. Room layout a little small (beds are only doubles). Otherwise very nice. great location.
