“Great location, pleasant stay”
The hotel is in a terrific location a couple of blocks from Grant Park/Millennium Park, several CTA stops, Michigan Avenue, and the Chicago Theater. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, especially the concierges who were quick with advice and recommendations. The building itself is architecturally interesting - being among Chicago's first skyscrapers - and has some lovely ironwork inside. Once inside, it does feel a little small, but this was fine with us. Our room was spotlessly clean. It wasn't particularly large, but we really don't need a lot of space. Note that as a boutique style hotel, you won't find the amenities of a larger hotel (e.g., swimming pool, large exercise room, etc.). We do wish the bar stayed open later - it closes at 11 on the weekends. After walking the Loop for hours in the high heat, feeling completely exhausted, and in serious need of refreshment and a comfy seat, we were annoyed to be relegated to the bar for drinks and snacks in the mid afternoon. We hoped to sit and relax in the plush dining room chairs but were refused. If it's 3 p.m., the place is wide open and you've got a waitress on duty, what's the harm? It seemed like a little request that would have made us so happy at the time. Yet, this was a minor irritation and overall we enjoyed our stay.
