“Loved Allegro”
Had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Allegro, from the moment we arrived to check out everything was perfect. The room was a good size - not much of a view but the location was perfect and central to everything we wanted to see - rarely used a taxi as so much to see walking about. Room was cleaned everyday and was faultless. Signed up to the Kimpton Members card before we went and could choose the type of pillow we wanted when we got there, got free wifi in the room and $10 to use in the mini bar - very much worth it. Would love to return to Chicago soon as was a wonderful place and we would definately stay at the Allegro on our return.
“Supreme Service and great hotel!”
Just back from 5 nights at this downtown Chicago hotel. I travel on a regular basis with work and often stay with Kimpton group hotels. The Allegro experience was up to normal Kimpton standards. Excellent room, very comfortable bed, good bathroom and powerful shower. The bathroom could have done with a larger sink and somewhere to put bits and pieces, and design has won over function in this respect! Service levels in the hotel were superb. During the day there were delicious refreshments left in the lobby for thirsty and hot visitors, and in the early evenning the complimentary reception was welocome after a hard days work. Location wise, for business the hotel was in a great location. From a social point of view it is right in the middle of the theatre district, but if you are looking easy convienience to Michigan Ave shops and bars you might be better off in the sister hotel 'The Monaco'. The hotel bar 'Encore' is excellent and breakfasts in 312 are of a high quality. Overall an excellent hotel with great service and friendly staff.
“I'd love to come back again”
This is one of the best places I've stayed so far, very atmospheric and fun. Situated in the middle of the Theatre district, it's close to the city centre and major attractions. The room was spacious, very clean, the staff extremely helpful. It's a shame I could only stay for a few days! Highly recommended, I'll be coming back soon again.
“Very comfortable hotel in The Loop”
We stayed at the Allegro for a little over a week while we visited the annual Blues Festival so it was a great location. Being right inside the loop we could easily walk to Grant Park each day for the Festival and the Art Insitute of Chicago (with an impressive world class art collection by the way). It's bang in the middle of the theatre district too if that's what turns you on, a few blocks from State Street shopping, and a short bus trip to shopping at the Magnificent Mile. There's lots of buses and metro train stations nearby so exploring wider Chicago is easy too. The hotel has recently been refurbed in a very liberal interpretation of the Deco style which looks great. There's an extended lobby area (a bit confusingly it's on the first floor but not a problem once you know!) which has lots of comfortable seating to relax in. There's a daily free wine reception early evening which is a nice touch and was well attended every day. Rooms are very well furnished - not large but big enough for two. Very comfortable bed from which to watch the huge plasma TV! Bathroom had a low level bath with over bath shower - an ideal combination in my book. All very clean with excellent standard of housekeeping. The only minor quibble from an Englishman used to having tea & coffee making facilities in the room is that, like most US hotels, this is missing here. The room rate was very good value for money given the standard and the location. I'd recommend it without hesitation. Peter
“Excellent hotel!”
A real boutique hotel with an excellent location to discover all what Chicago can offer. Easily reachable from O'Hare Airport by CTA (public transport) and conveniently located in the Loop for theather shows, or a walk to Millenium Park or to the Magnificent Mile shopping area. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes unconventional and quirky hotel setting (definitely, not the usual boring chain hotels!)
“Comfort, style, great locaction in the heart of chicago's theatre district”
Stayed 4 nights at Hotel Allegro. Location was fantastic. Right in the heart of the theatre district but within easy walking distance to the mag mile and other great spots in and around chicago. Hotel very clean. Staff all very friendly. Would definitely stay there again :0)
“Highly recommend The Allegro - wonderful staff”
So delighted we picked The Allegro. We chose it for its close proximity to our work venue, but would stay again without question. Wonderful staff from the minute we arrived - valet, reception, bell boy - all fab. The dinner recommendations by the concierge were spot on. We were lucky to have a room upgrade as the hotel was quite quiet and we were staying 6 nights and it was very nice. Bed very comfortable. Couldn't recommend more highly.
“Almost 7 Days of Peace and Tranquility”
Firstly the good points: This Hotel is in a great location, the staff are very pleasent and welcoming and the quialty and size of the rooms are adequate. The hotel is close to the Theatres yet within walking distance of the Magnificent Mile, the 'Blue Line' Subway station Clark/Lake stops just around the corner so its dead easy to get about. Theres good quality food places all around so you'll never go hungry. Now, the bad points... Unfortunately the breakfast service left a lot to be desired due the facts that it was sloppy, late being delivered and over priced, we roughly paid 25GBP for breakfast for two (that was once the hotel had added an 18% Gratuity and deliver charge without letting us know, the beds were comfy but the walls are very thin (we could here conversations in the next room) all in all though the stay at the Allegro was good, not the most memorable thing about staying in Chicago but a good hotel nonheless!
“Happy to have stayed here”
Hotel room was smaller than other hotels we have stayed in but was clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was situated in an excellent area for us to explore downtown Chicago as it was handy for the Willis Tower and the shopping and theatre district. Food was very good as well.
“Best holiday experience”
What can I say except 10 out of ten for everything! We could not fault anything and were even upgraded for free when we got there to a larger room as were staying there for ten nights. The staff, hotel, location - perfect. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to everyone. There was one guy (Jeffrey) who we could have wrapped up and brought home with us as he was so helpful and was ready for a chat with us everytime he saw us to make sure we were ok.
