We got put in a ground floor room which is right next to reception and it was extremely noisy. People chatting loudly just outside our room until 2am and then starting again at around 6am. Reception and ground floor rooms (1 & 2) was separated by a door which was constantly being being opened and banged shut loudly. Was very hard to sleep. Was very easily accessed from the port though, and probably would have been good had it not been for a very bad room.

The staff and the hotel owner are very friendly and helpful. Our room and especially the bathroom had been recently renovated. We stayed on the top floor. The hotel has a small 2 person elevator, but I always used the spiraling stair case. The hotel is on the corner of narrow streets in this section of Marseille known for antique shops and the location is convenient for walking around Marseille. We arrived by train and caught a taxi to the hotel. There are very nice restaurants on streets around the hotel where I had what was probably my best meal on this short 8 day trip to France.

Beautifully located, 15mn walking distance from the Vieux Port, plenty of restaurants and bars around, market on the Sunday... The staff is friendly and available, my studio flat was clean, fully functional, and very good valu for money. Definitely a place I'd recommend for the laid back traveller.

Stayed just the one night before beginning a cruise in Marseilles. A very nice hotel in a fantastic central location. The Castellane Metro station (which is one of the crossover stations between the two metro lines in Marseilles) is only a few minutes walk away, so a perfect base from which to explore the city. My partner and I were able to get a bus from the Airport to Gare-St-Charles and a metro from there to Castellane, so avoided an expensive taxi ride to the hotel. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, with good to excellent English. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel when we arrived too early for check-in and also pick them up late on the day of our departure. The breakfast was very nice, with a range of bread, croissants, cereals, cheeses and meats. The rooms were relatively large, with good size bathrooms. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The only (and very minor) negative comment I would have about this hotel is that everything was purple! The corridors and room are rather garishly decorated in an overpowering shade of purple, which is my only reason for marking the hotel down to a 4 on 'condition'. Overall, a very pleasant experience (particularly in respect of the staff, who I can't emphasise enough how friendly and welcoming they were). Highly recommended.
Right at check in, we were upgraded due to availability, so that placed us on the right foot immediately. The room was indeed spacious with a nice bathroom. I had one of the best showers of my life in that bathroom. The light blue color theme made the ambience more comfortable. This hotel was chosen due to its location. It was very good, walking distance to most locations in the city. Finding a restaurant on a Monday night was a little difficult, we eventually had to abandon the goal of looking for a local restaurant and ended up eating by the Vieux Port, however, that's not the hotel's fault, just local businesses. Overall, I had a great stay at this hotel.

Old, decrepit hotel. Wifi on and off signal. Bathrooms horrible. Bed, not so good. Peeling paint, debris, lots of stairs - no elevator. Staff was very helpful, friendly - working in less than ideal conditions. Fair-priced parking very close.

I only stayed a few days at this wonderful hotel. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the accommodations are almost exactly as pictured. Though the hotel staff hardly spoke English, he did his very best to understand my requests (like borrowing a glass from the kitchen for my room). Breakfast was included with my stay and it is exactly what you would expect for a French breakfast, but you can go back for seconds and thirds without paying an extra cost (as you would at a cafe). I would love to stay here again if I visit Marseilles.

The hotel is in a very good location, 15 minutes walk from to the old port, 2 minutes from the tube station. There is a market on the main street outside the hotel where you can buy fresh fruit and also a patisserie and a supermarket where we bought some fresh bread, pastries and other things. The owner was amazing, spoke good English and helped with all the questions we had about Marseille. We asked for a kettle in a room to make our own tea/coffee and he organised that for us with no fuss. We also got an iron and a hair-dryer - everything we needed really. There was also a fridge in our room. The hotel is 2 stars so don't expect anything too posh but it was tidy, clean and perfect for a 3 night stay.
