Affordable & City centered

Posted 02-Oct-2014
Pros: Centrally located
Cons: Rooms could be a little updated
Location: Beach, cafes, restaurants, stores, theaters, etc.
Our stay At Delirio Hotel was amazing! I got a great deal For my money. It centrally located inside the city wall. Everything nearby. Breakfast was amazing and to order. This is one of your best deals inThe old City!

Well located but small rooms

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Pros: Location was good. As was breakfast.
Cons: Lots. See above.
Location: Near the catedral and very close to Basilica of Santo Domingo so very well located.
Probably ok for pure tourist, especially those who expect to spend very little time in the rooms. Although the shower is a good size, North American males will find the toilet area cramped. No real space for shaving kit / make-up bag means difficult to do these kinds of things. Inappropriate for business travelers as there is no place to work. The only work area is in the open air dining area which means it is hot. Decent WiFi -- very modern in that there is no fixed telephone. There are no offices for the staff so the manager and the chef took the best spots directly under the rotating fans. Breakfast was good. Did not eat any other meals there.

Centric Boutique Hotel at a reasonable price!

Posted 18-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff is lovely. The hotel, while in a historic building, has been recently renovated and modernized inside. Clean rooms with nice baths.
Cons: We were satisfied with everything.
Location: The hotel is in the middle of the historic district, with shopping, dining and sightseeing all at walking distance.
We chose EL DELIRIO because it was centric in the historic district and seemed "modern" and "newer" inside with all the comfort and amenities like hot water and cold air at a very reasonable price. We found to have chosen the correct hotel! The staff will go out of it's way to accommodate it's guest. The rooms are not very large, as this is built into a historic building, but very practical and comfortable. We will come back to Cartagena and when we will, we most likely will consider El Delirio again. Thanks, Gracias!

It was in the middle of everything you need visit or see. 15 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes from Bocagrande beaches. Pleasant staff, clean rooms, quiet at night.

Perfect location

The hotel is just steps from many of the best sites in the Historic Section, including the Cathedral, Plaza Santo Domingo and Iglesia San Pedro. In the evening, it's a short walk to Cafe Del Mar and the walls surrounding the old town, where many people walk. The hotel's service is first rate, which includes a breakfast of your choice. The Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and turns out to be more roomy than when you first see it. There's a huge tv. I'd recommend this hotel to all travelers.

although great efforts had been made to modernize the room where I stayed, many things were a bit too simplistic. The bathroom sink located within the room was miniature-size and when you wash your hands water would splash on the glasses, the hand towels and on the floor. The walls in the shower stall had cracks and dark humidity spots. The cushion on the window bench was stained. Nevertheless the cleanliness was remarkable and the bed linen were great. The staff customer service was outstanding. There is a beautiful rooftop but no one ever visited because of the intense heat and no cover overhead. Breakfast was so-so until I discovered the absolutely delicious Areppa con huevos (Areppa with egg)... If I return to Cartagena I go back to this hotel just because the staff is so helpful and pleasant.

Cute small hotel, located in the center of the historic district. Easy access to great local food, shopping, and site seeing. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
