If you want to miss the summer crowds that flock here, a short walk northward brings you to the sheltered and quieter Chinamans Beach. For snorkelling and scuba diving, head to Chowder Bay. Stretch your legs with a coastal or bush walk. One of the best routes is the path from Headland Park to Taronga. It passes through bushland and past historic military sites and has fabulous views across the harbour to the opera house. The Sydney Harbour National Park also features an extensive network of paths, perfect for joggers and walkers.
