We came down with grands and had an excellent experience. Our were blown away. The shows were really good. Especially Onerio. My wife's birthday and they her feel very special.

Staff needs to be a bit more hospitable

The hotel setting is pleasant, and the beach is nice; however, the food is ok, the service is poor, and booking a restaurant is a hassle. All in all, this hotel falls far short of five-star standards.

The hotel was beautiful, however there were a few details that were overlooked and some water issues. The whole week we were there we did not have hot water in the shower and were told it was because of the high occupancy. There were also some basics in the room that were missing such as wineglasses, corkscrew and when we asked we were told there would be a delivery charge to get them. The bathrooms at the beach/pool that are shared with the Reef were out of order because they had low water. Garnishes on drinks were missing some days because they “ran out” and it often felt overcrowded with cruise ship guests. The staff however were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the Royal Tower (west) on the 17th floor with an ocean view. The view was amazing! Upon check-in, the staff was so kind, helpful and welcoming. The grounds are beautiful, aquariums amazing and the rooms and property were very clean. Staff: They were hit and miss on whether they were kind and helpful. Our daily housekeeper was so kind and warm. We loved seeing her each morning. As for restaurant staff, I feel like the automatic 15% tip does not do anything for the customer. majority of the restaurant staff gave the impression they were annoyed you were there. Some staff were great, but the ones who made it very clear they were unhappy made our dining experiences vastly different. Especially when we spend on average $800 a day on food and beverage. It was expensive! Which we were prepared for. We ate at the finer dining places and ordered/drank what we want. Waterpark: There was not one day we were there that all the slides were open. If you asked any of the attendants, they told us to find a manager because they don't know when the closed slides would be open. They were very annoyed when we asked. Pools: These are very well kept, and we had no problem getting chairs each day. Yes, the front row was all taken, but we were always able to find chairs somewhere.

Perfect beachside view. It was great to have the sound of the waves as the constant backdrop. The room itself felt dated and could use some modern touches. The staff was excellent.

This resort is beautiful. The views are stunning. However, we have stayed at 2 other all inclusive resorts previously and this was far different than those experiences. Barceló Barvaro Palace boasts it is an all inclusive resort with many restaurants, bars, rooms with mini bars included, etc. The only restaurants that you could go to without reservations for dinner were buffets. The Sports bar had a buffet with a terrible stench and awful food. It was the restaurant which was open 24/7. We got reservations the second day and had terrible times for the restaurants, 9:00, 10:15, 10:15. The mini bar in our room had two liter size water bottles for 4 people, 2 cokes, 1 sprite, 2 small presidente beers, and a club soda daily. We had exactly 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels. We did have robes and slippers. We learned while watching the nightly show that the resort had two levels of all inclusive. Regular and Premium. Premium was the ocean view, probably alcohol in the room, etc. A butler to assist with making reservations to get into the almost impossible to get into restaurants. We had regular all inclusive and were not going to spend an additional $200 plus more per day. The food at most of the restaurants was not good. It was disappointing for the money we spent. The ocean was amazing. The pools were beautiful. My daughter loved volleyball and my son enjoyed the casino, but did not win. The weather was 83 degrees, sunny, and beautiul.
