The staff was very helpful especially with English being a second language for them. WIFI could be better...but it's free. Reception area had a bad smell. The rest of the hotel was fine. The free breakfast was very filling.

I confess I fell for the headlines. Rosewood HK, the no. 1 hotel in the world! We were excited to close out our trip there. And yes, the building is beautiful and imposing, and the rooms are the stuff dreams are made up. And that’s about it. There is not a trace of hospitality in how this hotel is managed. When you charge so much for a room, you are expected to deliver. In particular the restaurans suffer greatly. We started with coffee and cake at the cafe the hotel boasts so much about. Cake delivered in two minutes. Coffee about 20 minutes later. The point is to have them together. Breakfast is a painful affair. Coffee is a tepid acrid sludge that also takes forever, but not as much as the main courses, waffles that arrived 30 minutes later and cold as ice. The waiters are courteous but run around without a clue. Drinks at the Darkside bar are also a mess, its not fun to sit around drinking water while drinks also take about 25 minutes to arrive. Coke zeros and drinks arrived at the italian restaurant BluHouse 40 minutes after ordering them. Bread was sadly stale. Food is not just about the taste but also about timing. The only bright spot was Chaat. We stayed there for four nights and I can honestly say that looking back the only thing I remember is the feeling of having been swindled.

I stayed at Hotel OneEighteen for 12 days and I couldn’t find one single thing to complain about! The hotel was located in a local neighborhood, only a few minutes away from the Tin Hau MTR station. There were plenty of restaurants nearby. I shared a basic twin room with my adult son and there was enough space for us to spread our things out. There were a desk and a chair, plenty of drawers, a hanging bar for cloths and a safe for valuables. The hotel also provided a mini fridge, kettle, microwave, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, slippers, shampoo and body wash. The shower was the best. The water pressure was very strong. The room was very quiet as well, I did not hear any sounds from outside the room, no neighbors closing doors, no shower water running, no toilet flushing, no music or chatting from next doors or the hallway. They did a good job with sound proofing the room. The gym was not inside the hotel. They worked with the gym next door which opened 24/7. I just had to check out an access card from the front desk. It was a professional gym and pretty much had all the equipment you would need for a serious workout. Lastly, I must mention how friendly and helpful the staff were, both front desk and housekeeping. They did everything they could to make sure we enjoyed our stay and they did it from their hearts. I am very pleased with Hotel OneEighteen and I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning to visit Hong Kong.
