East Coast and Midlands Romantic Holidays

This is a large slightly shabby chic hotel. The deluxe room was a good size if a bit tired. Shower had seen better days.....but this is an old hotel and partly to be expected. The fine ding restaurant was excellent and I think good value for the quality of the food. I would have awarded Barberstown Hotel a solid 4 stars but for: + Cheap polycotton cotton sheets.....never nice. + Big minus for me was the mattress. I can only describe it as cheap and uncomfortable..... a big contrast to the previous small hotel I visited in Enniskerry ( Powerscourt Inn) which had super comfortable mattresses, 100% cotton bedding and excellent pillows. The staff there told me they specifically invested to ensure guests have a great nights sleep. + Disappointed to order a Sirloin steak in the Garden Restaurant on the second evening only to be served a much cheaper cut.....I think a Bavette steak. All in all a pleasant stay spoiled by disappionting bedding.

Extortionate for what you get. Not worth the price, zero amenities, no gym, fitness, wellness, nothing at all. You’re literally paying for a bed in a tiny standard room that has paper thin walls. No breakfast unless you book direct even though you pay the same price third party, which only mentions in the fine print that breakfast is not included. Far better options available in Dublin City. I’d rate this hotel a 3 star overall at best

The breakfast was very good and staff was great. Beautiful older building . The only problem was no air conditioning so the room got rather warm and outside temperature was cool. Could not imagine how warm it would be in summer.
