The Hotel Providence is described as being a boutique hotel, that's just a nice word for old. The hotel is located directly across the street from a homeless outreach center. Everyday, all day and night people in need are just gathered on the street/sidewalks In front of the center making walking uncomfortable. I was asked for money several times. The hotel has a valet service which on their website is listed as $40 per night, but they charged $45 per night. They also overcharged me for the room, they added the sales tax to the daily room charge and then taxed me on the totals, when I brought this to their attention they said they have never seen this happen before and were unsure how it happened. They credited me back the difference and also the difference in the parking fee charge. I don't believe the excuses, if they did that to me they did it to everyone. There are so many better hotel options in the area, I'm so disappointed in my decision to stay here.

I loved this place. The ambience was so “New England !” We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, there were several excellent restaurants nearby, and it was quiet at night. I hope to come back sometime!
