Fabulous stay in a wonderful location. The staff are truly top-notch. Attentive and friendly. Every request was answered with “Of course, with pleasure!”. Food was excellent. Morning coffee with steamed milk delivered to our room early morning so we could sip and watch the sunrise from our balcony. A variety of on-site tours are included. The guides are excellent. Special shout-out to Sandra for finding the small Red-eyed tree frogs during the night tour. Scarlet macaws flying all over the lodge, monkeys everywhere, all sorts of beautiful birds and interesting critters right outside your room. The grounds and views are beautiful. Hike to a waterfall within ten minutes. Pool is nice too. They will take you down to the secluded beach and set you up with chairs and cooler. The beach is beautiful but very rocky. We had the Matapalo suite. Very nice though close to the entrance and main road so the intermittent traffic noise was a minus. We had a small issue with a large wandering spider and then a bark scorpion getting into our bathroom (each just once) but they responded within 3-4 minutes both times. They installed a door sweep on the bathroom door within hours to prevent them entering the bedroom- very speedy response. The view was outstanding however. Overall Lapa Rios is an outstanding lodge with wonderful staff, and I cannot recommend it enough. Five stars.

Pool was stunning and hospitality was superb.

Came to Costa Rica for my anniversary trip. The Hotel Gaia was a pleasant experience. Overall the staff was wonderful! Never waited for answers. They were always right there with answers. I've been in the hospitality business for 31 years so I appreciate EXCELLENT service, and that it was. The room was very nice also. The complimentary breakfast made waking up early easy. It was just a short drive away from plenty of restaurants and shopping. The hotel offered free shuttle to the nearby beach and national park which we took full advantage of. Overall, I have to say the hotel experience was wonderful!

Pool was stunning and hospitality was superb.

Property was very nice although the walking up and down the hills within the property was difficult and felt dangerous especially on the rolling surface installed. Service was great although there was a tendency to gouge for trivial services (ie salt and lime on a beer glass was an upcharge, Evian bottles of water $9 each). Bartending, waiters and golf cart drivers were definitely the saving grace. Our room A/C system was marginal.

Safe, vibrant part of Santa Ana. The staff was engaged and helpful. We made a point to return to this hotel having stayed here 2 years ago.

We were unfortunately only there for one night but the property and the staff were delightful and even brought us boxed breakfasts at 3 AM before an early flight out. The property is remarkable with several pools, trails, and views. Worth the price of admission for that alone, but the staff knows what they are doing.

This was a lovely place to spend our first couple of nights in Costa Rica after a long flight. The grounds were beautiful and the breakfasts were great, as was our evening meal. The accommodation felt vibrant and Costa Rican, which we loved, but could do with a little updating. However, it was still a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. We really enjoyed the coffee tour and would highly recommend it.
