Hotel Costa Verde did not meet our expectations; it was the most expensive place we stayed in Costa Rica and we liked it the least. The biggest problem is the hotel room walls are paper thin so we could clearly hear normal volume conversations taking place in the next room as well as lots of noise from the baby and toddler, waking us up multiple times during the night and noisy throughout the day as well. You can hear doors opening and closing very loudly in the next room, too. The hotel does not provide basic coffee condiments in the room or in the lobby; I requested a simple dry packet of creamer, or a bit of milk, or anything for my coffee (coffee that I brought myself), and was told it's not provided. This is not what I expect from a 4-star hotel. The swimming pool (we went to Pool A twice) has a nice ocean view but otherwise it is a basic small square pool with discolored, old chairs and no ambiance at all. No music, no service, no umbrellas, no towels. Finally, be aware that the overall property consists of many buildings that are spread out from each other; our building in "Area D" had zero amenities; we had to either drive our rental car or request a shuttle ride if we wanted to go to the pool, go to the restaurants on the property, or get to Area E from which you can walk a steep path to the beach. The positive things about the hotel were a refrigerator and 2-burner cooktop in the room, hot water in the shower, and a nice balcony. I wouldn't stay here again.

Lovely location with incredible reviews. Seeing the released red macaws on site was a treat. Tours booked via the hotel were excellent and we appreciated the recourse when one of our tours did not work out. Really loved the upper sunset deck. Restaurant was decent. Pool lovers may be disappointed with the pool.

Great atmosphere, breathtaking views and wildlife all around.

We arrived late and got a warm welcome from the night staff. Our room, was downstairs, at the end of the building, huge, and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was a good size and split up from the bedroom by a handy dressing area. We had a balcony, our view was small, with some garden, the jungle and next to the path down to the beach (quite steep, takes 5- 10 minutes to walk down to beach , 10 minutes+ to get back). I was initially disappointed by the view, but grew to love it. We saw squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, at very close range - definitely follow the hotel advice, the monkeys are entertaining but naughty. We also heard and saw so many birds. It was quiet and very relaxing. The restaurant was where we got the best views of the ocean and the jungle, we could spend a long time up here, aided by a good breakfast and lovely staff. The pool areas were great. Not big pools, but they weren't packed. Lovely views. Lovely cocktails (a lot cheaper in the town of Manuel Antonio - but then you weren't lazing by the pool) and attentive staff. The whole hotel is built on a steep hill, they have a trolley-car to take you up to the restaurant, pool or reception. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Booking tours was also very easy. I would happily return to this beautiful spot.

Amazing location uphill on a mountain, great views of the bay from the back yard of the rooms with frequent visits of birds, staff was very helpful!!
