This is a luxury hotel and conference venue. The walk across the street to the beach (private and secured area for guests) makes it very comfortable and enjoyable.
Food was very good, although the sushi bar was just okay.

I had an oceanfront room and this was an exceptional stay.
From the check in assistance by Julia at the front desk, to Gustavo at my check out, I had an amazing stay at Grand Hyatt for 4 days and I'd definitely be back here again. I am very sensitive to noise and even though the oceanfront room is by the avenue, the soundproofing of the balcony door was so superb, once you close it, the whole noise of the outer world is away from you. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the shower was spacious and so was the room, giving me plenty of space to move in it comfortably. The housekeeping was incredible, I am already a very tidy person but when I came back to my room, their touch made things even better than I expected.
I loved the fact that the portion of the ocean this hotel sees is much more calmer than most beaches of Rio. I also stopped by Canto for lunch once and a drink when I checked out, and the server Monique was very helpful and warm.
Overall, it's been a great experience for me. I was a solo, woman traveller. Would highly recommend this place to anyone interested.

Hotel is in good condition, clean and well staffed. Food was good and both breakfast and dinner had plenty of options. The beach is amazing and easily accessible, with permanent facilities like chairs, and straw beach huts, with the staff being very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and spacious, with AC working well and a nice porch, although it had only two chairs, no table or chaise, and wasn’t really very comfortable to use. The only main problem during our stay was with the fitness center, most equipments were on maintenance, without a basic treadmill (absent, not broken), an issue for a runner like me when the weather is not ideal for outdoor training. If possible, choose a villa instead of the apartment, they are really nice and is the main attraction of the resort. We tried to upgrade our reservation but we were told the hotel was 100% booked, although villas seemed to still be available online for the period we were staying. Also, consider the hotel is about 1h away from the main city, Fortaleza, so it’s perfect for a stay-in-the-resort kind of vacation, but not very convenient if you also enjoy a good city dining or nightlife. Plan accordingly, traffic in Fortaleza is a bit unpredictable.
